Now that fresh local produce is out in abundance I can't stop eating cherries. They're so big and juicy and sweet and dark. Drrrr....why didn't my rheumatologist warn me about this terrible aspect of RA? Must eat more cherries.....
Surely science can do something about this!
oh my goodness, I love cherries! I have been eating them non-stop for the last week. My brother and SIL picked 100lbs and pitted them. yummy! I made a cherry cobbler and didnt even need to add any sugar. Cherries supposedly help with inflammation too.

Eat away, Gimps:

Read this and you'll find you're doing your body a great service, for cherries pack a big anti-inflammatory punch:

Phew...thanks for posting that because I've been eating at least a pound every day! They're just so crisp and sweet.

What will happen to me when the peaches are ripe?
Mmmm....corn.

Oh I can't wait for the butter/sugar corn to be available here in Connecticut.  One of the best things about summer.  Peaches are good too, when they are big and juicy and the juice is running down your chin and your arm.  Yum!

My grandfather used to have a huge old cherry tree in his yard.  He put an old-fashioned wood and rope swing in it for me.  I could sit in my swing and much on cherries!  Brings back great memories of summer in the country.

You just reminded me, I should go check on my berries.  I have raspberries and blackberries in my backyard.  I havent checked them in a bit.  I love making a big spinach salad, loaded with yummy stuff and topped off with raspberries.

Good eatin' ahead!

Hillhoney39259.6897222222You're not alone Gimpy.  They are my #1 weakness and much better for my than my #2 weakness - potatoe chips.  Eat away, I think we've all been doing it.  Lindy

I like those white cherries better than the Bing. What are they called? Does anybody know if they are good for RA, too? They are a bit sweeter, usually.

Take care, Karin

Those are Rainier Cherries....mmmmhmmm...those are good too.
I only have one raspberry bush (growing in a pot on my deck) but I check it every day!
Oooooo yes same here Gimpy.  I am buying a pound a day! Ohh we love cherries here.  We just got some really awesome and tore right thru them.  I just love this time of the year with all the fresh picked produce.  There is a Farmer's Market in town every Friday and we make it a point to go every Friday.  There is a guy there that grows the hugest...juiciest...sweetest strawberries I have ever tasted in my life.  There is also someone else that grows green onions I kid you not...the size of Danny's FIST.  When we go camping to one of our regular fav spots there is a farmer who picks his corn in the morning and sets up a stand in front of his house all afternoon and sells it dirt cheap.  This is the best corn I have ever tasted in my life.  It is even better when we roast it over the campfire.  Lately I have been getting these fantastic grapes too.

Oh Sheesh...You all just made me very very hungry!!!  I had raisin bran for dinner.  Something about a shrivled up ole raisin just doesn't compare to fresh cherries, corn, watermelon, peaches, raspberries, blackberries etc...  I feel like I'm drooling!!

Gramma, I hope that you do not roast the corn in the husk as it may contain pesticides, depending if the farmers sprays it or not.  I know that it does taste better that way, so be careful.  Perhaps you could ask the farmer if he sprays.
I agree with all of you, this is a great time of year for fresh fruit.  They are charging a pound for cherries at the supermarket, but the price will drop as the crops become more plentiful. Yummy!

mmmm  cherries.  At the moment our cherries are imorted from the states and are about a kilo.    I'll just have to drool for now.

I love cherries too and could eat the whole bag at once, but, beware! they have a huge laxative effect on me!
