Clumsy Me! | Arthritis Information

Well this morning I was stepping onto my deck and the toe of my flip flop got caught on the rim of the step and down I went. Fell down on all fours, banged up both knees, cut my toe and hurt both arms. Nothing broken but stupid me. I fall all the time. It's embarassing so luckily this was in my own backyard!!!

Anyway, I"m sooo hurting now. I was wondering, does physical trauma to our joints trigger our RA? I mean, the pain I'm feeling is definitely RA pain, not bruise pain. Does that make sense.

I'm such a klutz.

I sorry, Honey! Hope you stop hurting soon, and yes, physical trauma will cause us to flare.

Example: My knee will have minimal swelling, but let my knee get bumped or even slightly twist it and it will swell bigger and not be able to bend my knee out straight.

That is another reason why I do not go outside. More likely to fall and hurt myself or break another darn bone!

joonie39260.5123148148Oh honey, I'm sorry you fell, ouchie! I used to fall all the time, in fact that was one of my first symptoms. Now I hold on for dear life and my steps are carefully calculated.I'm glad you didn't break anything, Honey. I'm afraid I'm going to fall someday and really hurt myself, I'm so clumsy nowadays. Those dang flip-flops. Ouchie!!  Sorry you fell!  Take it easy for the rest of the day if you can.  Rest the joints.  Physical trauma can for sure affect us and cause a flare.  I am sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you feel better soon. Love  and gentle hugs, JMy rheumy scolded me for wearing flip flops or any loose fitting shoe.  I can't even imagine what would happen if I attempted to wear flip-flops.  Healing thoughts to you.

Honey, I'm really sorry about the fall but THROW YOUR FLIP FLOPS IN THE TRASHCAN.  They're dangerous.  I fell 4 times a year ago and each time I fell I had on the same sandals.  I threw them away and I haven't fallen since.  Like you, the toe would get caught.  I was just lucky that I didn't hurt myself badly.

An injury can cause an RA flare.  Been there, done that, and paid the price.Rest and take care of yourself for a few days, Lindy

UGH I love my flip flops, I have sparkly beaded ones, black ones, platform ones, silver ones, what the heck do you guys wear on your feet on 90+ degree days???? Sneakers are too hot and my feet will swell and then my toes look like Vienna sausages! Get a more secure fitting sandals that has adjustable straps across the tops of your feet and around your ankles for better support!  Spend the extra money and get a soft, cushioning pair that fit properly!

I hope you feel better soon!

Ouch...Sorry you fell down and went boom!  I am a horrible person because had I of been there I would have laughed hysterically while being very concerned that nothing was broken.  Once we knew for sure you were okay, I would of laughed some more.  Isn't that just awful?!  I know!  I really am glad you're okay though.  STOP wearing those darn flip flops!!  I couldn't walk in those things if I was in perfect health with no issues.  Besides, they are VERY bad for your feet.

As far as physcial trauma triggering a flare, I absolutely believe it does.  I had to give up something as simple as bowling because everytime I would go bowling I'd end up in bed the following day unable to walk with a horrible flare in knees/ankles.  I wasn't a league bowler either...just recreational.  It's like a bunch of nasty gremlins in there....Ohhhh something just happened over there by that knee...ATTACK TROOPS ATTACK!!

Hope you're feeling better & be careful.

Peace & Love...Neasy

I wear good fitting sandals with cushioned insteps year round. Flexi, Dansko and Fly Flots.  Luckily, I'm either in the tropics or warm climates so I can get away with it.  We are headed to Wash. state and BC in the late spring so I'm hoping that it will be warm enough for sandals.  I am going to look at Ecco shoes for a nice flat.  I had one pair several years ago and loved them.  Lindy.
