Does anyone on enbrel here have mosquito bites and if they do, do they swell up after your enbrel injection?? What about anyone on humira?
Skeeters love gnawing on me and I swell up regardless. I'm on remicade and I can't tell the difference. Sorry gramma, that doesn't answer your question, but I just thought I'd throw that in. I thought that with this medication the bugs wouldnt like me anymore but I was wrong. However the bites do not swell up if I dont scratch themI use to be allergic to mosquitos when I was a kid. Every time I would get a skeeter bite, where ever it bit me it would get really big and be a hard puffy lump. I remember one time I got bit by one on my eye and when I woke up the next morning I could not open my eye because it was swelled shut from where the skeeter bit me. My mom took me to the Dr to find out why my eye was like that and they told her I was allergic to mosquitos. She took me to another Dr and they told her the same thing, that I was allergic to mosquitos.
I do not get the hard puffy lump swelling anymore when one bites me. I did, but after having my daughter I did not seem to have a reaction to their bites anymore.
I have noticed though, that when I do get a skeeter bit, it itches like heck and will itch for days after. and then it will take a couple of weeks for the bit to go away. It happened to me on Memorial Day. I got a bunch of skeeter bites from sitting outside and the bites did not go away until a couple of weeks ago! I can still see on my hand where they bit me!
Nope....no difference here. Still just as annoying as they were before Enbrel.

My reaction is the same to skeeter bites on enbrel, humira, and remicade as it was without. I usually have a pretty big reaction, though less now than when I was a kid. Like Joonie I have had my eye swelled shut by a skeeter bite - I was 28 the last time it happened. Bites on hands and feet as well as face are especilly evil.
Glad to be in AZ where we don't have so many skeeters but the last 5 years since the Tempe Town Lake was built has made them a problem.
