Do you come from a large family | Arthritis Information

There is only my sister and me but on my dads side his parents had 13 children ( no tv in those days) each of his siblings had between 2 and 6 children a piece so I have 45 cousins. We all have between 1 and 3 children each and there is going to be a huge reunion in August.Unfortunetly my grandparents have both passed on, my grandmother was 97 and grandfather was 85. My father passed away in 1999 and his brother in february this year but its is still going to be lots of people. I was just wondering  if anyone else comes from a large family. My dads eldest sister is 80 and she is the only one who has RA apart from me .

I am an only 'natural' child.  I have 2 adopted brothers.  My dad had 9 brothers and sisters.  All his brothers died in their 40's and early 50's from heart , my dad was 57 when he died.  The sisters are all still alive.  My mum is the youngest of 4 girls and will be 82 in a couple of weeks, one sister passed away a few weeks ago.  The oldest sister is 90 and still going strong.  I have about 35 cousins.  I haven't seen most of them for years as I live in Australia and they all live in Toronto and Hamilton.  I have seen several on my recent visits home and always treat a trip home as my last chance to see aunts and uncles.  In the last 4 weeks I have lost mums sister and one of my dads sisters husbands.  He was the last male in the family.  I don't know what the girls will do now, he looked after all 5 of them as they lost their husbands over the years.  As far as I know no-one has RA.  Just lucky ol' me.

Funny you should ask Lisa.  I just posted about going to my family reunion in West Virginia.  I am not exaggerating when I say I am related to almost everyone in southern West Virginia!  It's like playing the seven degrees of Kevin Bacon - I can connect myself to most everyone I meet in just a few steps!

I am an only child.  I don't know how that happened!

Have fun at your reunion - do you do genealogy?  It would be a great place to get started.  Sorry, I try to get everyone to share my addiction.

Very small family, one estranged sister.

Hands hurt, short responses today!

I'm adopted and was an only child.  I had an only child who has only fathered 2 children.  We could hold our family reunion in a phone booth!

My biologic family is a whole different ballgame.  I have 13 brothers and half sisters!  I've only met one of the brothers and that didn't turn out to be a really happy family affair.  Like Hillhoney, I was born in West Virginia.  I was adopted by my "city" cousins and raised much differently than my other brothers and sisters.  I'm probably related to everyone in central West Virginia.... maybe Hillhoney and I are related.  We might even be sisters - one never knows.

These stories are so interesting....sorry i am soooooo nosy but love to know about other people.

Karen- I am looking into my geneology.Loved your story

My mom was one of 3 kids, my dad had one sister...I have 8 cousins among them. There's just my brother and I in our immediate family. He's 37, I'm 34.  I have 4 kids, he has 2.  So not a real big family compared to some.

Hope this helps! :) ~Karin

karin101339263.5804282407I have 5 brothers and NO I WASN'T SPOILED! My two older brothers each have a daughter, I have two daughters, the next brother has a son and the 4th has 2 boys, my youngest brother doesn't have any children. My DH has two brothers and was convinced we could only have boys, we never even picked out a girls name the first time. Genetics is so interesting, my dad had a distant cousin who had RA and 2 uncles who had the diabetes. I was just reading about it online yesterday because I had an argument with a co worker, he said diabetes, is only passed on by the mother. It said if I had my children after I was 25 and didn't become diabetic until after I was 11, the chances of my children getting it was greatly decreased, how interesting.Ninilchicken39263.7187152778

I am the youngest of 6 girls. My oldest sister passed away 3 years ago and my sis with RA is in really bad shape. In doing geneology on both my parents side I hate to say it but my family tree goes just about staight up!

I have tons of neices and nephews and cousins and double cousins...kinda like Deliverance ( no no just kiddin') I like to say kinda like royaltyMarcus Napoleon Bonaparte Jonathon Hampton Alley This is so cool to hear about everyones family.  We had a reunion for my grandfathers side of the family but just up to my 2nd cousins and there were about 60 or so people there just up to that and it was a blast.  People i havent seen since my Great Grandmothers funural that was back when i was 8 so what 17 years ago?  The sad thing is they all live around here.  But thats how that side of the family is unfortunatly.. But everytime there is a wedding it might as well be a family renunion.I am the oldest of 9, 6 boys, 3 girls, I was also the last in my family to have my first child, which is my only child.  Both parents were only children.  meme

2 brothers, 2 sisters

12 nephews and nieces, tons of cousins.

I also have a ton of aunts and uncles as well.  Big family :)

Husband's family is him, his brother, parents and one uncle and a couple aunts.  Very small.  Oh and like 4 cousins.
