Just started taking plaquenel .My reumy told me to take 200 mg (1 pill ) per day first week than 2 pills per day next week and than the week after 3 pills per day and to stay on that amount.
I feel the 200mg is really (REALLY!!) helping my hands. I want to stay on 200 not increase if I am doing well on it.

It is good to follow your docs directions... Your hands feeling better may coincidence. Plaq is supposed to take months to work.I'm taking 1 pill twice a day. So a total of 400mg/day. So that's all you're taking and you already notice an improvement? That's awesome! Mine actually got worse when I first started on meds...and I was told the Plaquenil can take up to 4-5 months to actually know if it's going to work. So far....mine isn't better. And I started out on 5mg of Prednisone, but had to up it to 10mg. I did have about 2wks while I was on the 10mg of Pred that I felt "pretty good." But that all went out the window this week.
Maybe you could call your Dr and tell him how good you're feeling on the 200mg and see what he says? From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong anybody) the Plaquenil helps prevent anymore damage...so maybe that's why he wants you to take more?
