What are your views on tattoos??  Oooooooooooooo well.

Seeing as I have three, I'm for 'em.

Well Katie...I turned 40 this year, and I'm not sure who I am anymore. All my life I swore I would never get a tattoo and I have hated motorcycles. I even threatened my 21 yr old growing up, that I would just kill him if he got a tattoo or motorcycle.

Well...a lot has happened in the last 12 months of my life. My dearest grandmother who raised me past away 8 months ago from complications due to RA, Lupus, and Osteo, I got my motorcycle license the following month, bought a motorcycle, was dx'd with RA in April and got a tattoo this past Tuesday night.

The one thing that kept me from getting a tattoo was the idea that I would be a grandmother one day, and I could not picture my grandmother with a tattoo. What's ironic is, the reason I never got one, was the same reason I did get one. I've noticed I haven't thought of my grandmother as often as I did when she 1st past, and that bothered me. I thought if I got a tattoo to remember her by, she would always be with me. She loved hummingbirds and the colors correl and salmon. I did it for me, not to honor her. Lord knows she'd kill me if she knew. This was to help me feel better. This is the end result:    Do I feel better? Jury's still out... Blessed39263.9673611111Awesome tattoo Lisa!!

I think it is beautiful!!!  I want one, but am too scared to get one.  I think I will one day, just don't know which day

Phats

Ummmm.... yeah.... that involves needles and many needles at that! So, for me it is out of the question.

Hubby wants one on his back of some type of angel, but his momma told him she would pinch his head off if he got one. The only reason he has yet to get one is because the tattoo he wants will be so big and detailed it would cost a pretty penny we do not have to waste on something like that.

Me, I just hope he does not get one. I kinda have mixed feelings on it, but if he gets one he gets one. And if my kids get one when they are old enough, I will not be upset (so I think

Some tattoos are pretty, and other I think "What the heck was that person on? ACID?"

Blessed - very pretty tattoo you got there

I'd have to be on acid to get a tatoo

i am too old for tattoos... i have seen too many fashions come and go... and in 2, 5 or 10 years i wouldnt know if i would still want one.     though if i ever did get one, yours does look really lovely.   anna
Tattoos???   Oh boy, I love them. I have two right now, a fairy I got when I turned 18, and a cross with decoration that is between my shoulder blades....I know I want more......so, love them, love them, love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love tattoos!!  I have one in the smae place as yours, only I think mine is a bit smaller.  Anyway, it's very pretty.  Are you happy with it?  I like it.

Linda

It's beautiful. I dont think you'll be sorry.

Hi

I would lurve a tat but im a but scared it will hurt ( such a wimp considering the amount of blood tests ive had and the fact ive given birth twice with no pain relief!!)

Really like the humming bird its so pretty.....did it hurt alot?

It hurt pretty good on the lower part of the foot and on the ankle bone. I do like it, I think the artist did a wonderful job of capturing what I wanted.

My husband got his first day before yesterday! I love it!!!!!!!!

Blessed39264.2727546296This is good.  Now we will recognize you and your husband if we see you on the streets!!I love the tattoo!! I want to get one as well but we havent had the extra money to waste.  What I want to get is the Pink breast cancer ribbon with my Aunts name on it... We lost her 2 years ago to breast cancer and i want to do something in her honor.  Dont know where to get it yet.  A good friend of mine that lives out in Cali has a BUNCH of tattoos all over, but he doesnt have anything tastless done.  He does have one thats kinda funny.  Him and his tattoo guy did a tattoo of a mustache on their index finger so theres a pic of him on his myspace w/ him holding up is finger above his mouth..It cracked me up when i saw it.  I have known him since Kindergarten or so, and when i saw it it was definitly something he would do

I think tattoos can be very nice if they are well thought out and not overdone.  I have one tattoo on my shoulder that I got 18 years ago and have not regretted it once.

I find the history, spirituality, and meaning of tattoos very interesting and once delivered a Sunday morning service at my Unitarian church about it.  If anyone's interested in the text, pm me.

Lisa, I think your tattoo is very pretty and a nice remembrance.

I think it's really neat when someone gets one to remember someone they love by.

I get mine for a different reason. I'm TERRIBLY artistically challenged, however I have all these amazing ideas, pictures, etc etc in my head. I've found drawings that resemble my ideas, and I get my tattoo artist to help me modify them to what I wish I could draw. That might sound silly, but I LOVE what I've got. :)
Too old, too chicken.

Well, I have several tattoos and will keep getting them even tho I will be 39 very soon.  For me, it is just one way that I outwardly express who I am.  I started out with a toothy grinning sun with pretty rays coming out from it.  That eventually evolved into a quarter moon with a grin on the other side of my ankle that is connected with a band cosmic clouds and stars.  On the same leg on my calf I have kanji symbols that mean fire and ice.  I have started a theme with that leg that I call the duality of man.  I plan on adding more to it.  On my left ankle I have a Steamboat Willie and an original Minnie Mouse.  They are done to look very old time in sepia tones.  I have a band around my left wrist of 3 roses on a vine wrapped around barbed wire.  I had this tattoo touched up with non phosphorus ink that glows under a blacklight. The purple roses and the green leaves glow.  It's kinda neat.  On my right breast is a smiley face with it's tongue sticking out.  On my right shoulder blade I have a memorial to my Daddy.  I am planning on tattooing my wedding band on my ring finger since my fingers sweel and my knuckles have become so much larger it isn't worth it to keep resizing my wedding band.

My husband has no tattoos lol. He says he leaves all that craziness for me.  In my younger days I had a few piercings too.  Only one that is left now is my tongue.  I let the other ones close up and heal.  But I did my piercings loooooong before they became a fad or the in thing to do.  I was nuts when I was younger lol.  Now I have mellowed somewhat.

Lisa and everyone else that posted pics of their tats....very nice!!!  I think they are beautiful and also well done.  You had a very good tat artist.  Take care of them and they will still look great even 10 years down the line.  People think I did my ankle only months ago instead of yeeeeeeears ago.

Tattoos are definitely not for everyone and should be well thought out before getting one.

As for taking good care of your tats, that's one area where the photosensitivity from the meds is a blessing...my shoulder tat rarely sees the sun (and when it does, it's wearing 70 SPF) so the inks still look great.

Blessed, your tat is beautiful.  I have a small one on my right hip, I don't regret getting a tattoo, I just wish I would have gotten something more me.  I was dating this guy and he picked it out, that was the only I regret.

Beautiful work!!!

I have one...wish I could post it but I'm clueless.  Anyway, mine is on my lower back.  It's a tribal with japanese letters basically meaning "End of one life, Beginning of a new".  It's black with red outline and it was my divorce tattoo.  No regrets here!

Peace & Love...Neasy

Blessed, your tatoo is beautiful. And I think you got it for a good reason. I
don't have any but all of our daughters have them and I was very upset each
time they got one but I feel as long as you love it and you think of your
grandmother often, it is a good thing and remember, don't care what anyone
thinks, it is what you think that matters.
