too much not good news. I had my physical for EMTing and the doctor doesnt want me to pass he says i shouldn be helping sick people because of the meds im on. humira, mtx and prednisone specifically. Also i HARDLy passed the stress test, couldnt do the treadmill stuff.
was supposed to go to rheumy tomorrow but she canceled. i really needed to go im not doing well. humira hasnt done a thing its wroking less then enbrel and i cant stay awake. i start crazy work schedule next week.
im betting all she will do by phone is up the prednisone. she cant see me till the 16th at the earliest
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh HELP! Oh dear I know what you mean it is overwhelming. I'm so sorry about EMTing after all of your hard work. Bad news does so much to drag us down. I hope you can see the doctor soon, and even though we hate it sometimes we neeeeed to tke the prednisone. Good luck girl, Lynda
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well littlemermaid. Is there another doctor in the office that you could see sooner?
I'm not sure I understand why a doctor wouldn't want you to pass your test if you're wanting and able to work. I realize we have an autoimmune disease and our immune system isn't the greatest but we aren't contagious and if you feel well enough to do that type of work...(shrug) I dunno. There are quite a few people with RA in the medical field. I'm sure someone here will be able help you in that area.

i know! well if my rheumy will write a letter i may still be able to EMT. he doesnt want to let me cause he doesnt think i could do the lifting required and he is worried about the immunosuppresents.......(((((hugs))))) There are many nurses here and other wonderful people that are in the health care profession that are in contact with people that have illnesses every single day.
I think that having your rheumy write a letter would be a great thing. It seems as if the doc doing your physical really has no idea that you can do this career despite the meds you are on. It would be a great opportunity to educate someone about RA and how we try to live as normal life as possible and can still do things that any other person does.
I hope you feel better soon and get this EMT stuff straightened out. I did it with RA and you can too!!!!
