First Remicade Infusion Done! | Arthritis Information

Hey all - I thought I'd take the time to let you know how my first Remicade infusion went.

It was pretty much as expected.  I got there and she sat me in a recliner, gave me Tylenol and Claritin and took my vitals.  Then she put in the needle.  The first time she didn't get the vein but the second time was a success.  It had to go into the crook of my elbow so I had to keep my arm straight the whole time on a pillow.  Then she mixed the IV bag and hooked it up.  Every half hour she checked my vitals.  I forgot my magazines so I watched The Morning Show, Martha and Price Is Right instead.  After the drip was done. I had to sit for 30 minutes, then I went to work.

In 2 weeks I'll be there again.

My knee is driving me crazy so I hope this kicks in sooner than later!

My doctor wants me to start infusions too but Im just a little scared

Did you notice any change? Im afraid that I will have a reaction.

Tara

Tara - no reactions today!HI, It took 5 infusions for me to feel it was helping, goood luck. Lynda

Tara and Matthew, my sister just had her 4th infusion Thurs. and has absolutely no reactions. Even better that Humira or MTX. Good Luck and God Bless....

Glad it went so well. I have been on it for 2 years. Haven't ever had a
reaction. I too was nervous but it has been a piece of cake.

I hope your knee feels better. Don't get frustrated if you don't get results
right away. It has to build up in your system.

Becky

Thanks everyone.  I know it could take a while for this med. to work if at all, but I am an eternal optomist so just by saying that it will "kick-in" soon, I hope it will.  I have found that positive mental attitude is a "must-have" with this disease.

My knee is better this morning since I ramped-up the Pred last night.  I'd just rather be comfortable for the holiday! Good Im glad Matthew!! Maybe if it works well for you I might change my mind. Glad everything went well for you!!!  I wish you great luck with the remicade!!!

Glad the infusion went well for you Matthew and hope it helps.  How long do you have to be there for the infusions?  Do you go to the hospital or the doctor's office.  Just curious as I'm not familiar with the infusions.

By the way Matthew....Do you play Euchre?

Peace & Love....Neasy

Glad your first infusion went well with no probs and I hope it starts working for you soon.

I am still waiting for my insurance company to okay me getting on Remicade. Nothing but low dose prednisone for a couple weeks now and boy my whole body feels it. Dr. will not up my pred either to get me through. I'm so misserable!!!

Glad to hear that your 1st remicade infusion went well, Mathew.  I actually started feeling the difference after my 2nd infusion.  That's pretty rare though.  I just hope the remicade works as well for you as it does me.

Neasy - I went to the doctor's office and I was there from 8:30 - noon.  Next time it should be a bit faster as the same nurse does the infusions each time and this time she knows where to go on my arm, etc.

Euchre?  No sorry, but I play UNO!

Brenna, my Dr had to submit a formulary exception form to my insurance and the response came very quickly.  I pray things work out for you soon.

Thanks to all for the well-wishes!
