Off of Metho. | Arthritis Information

I've been off of Metho. since the first of June. I came down with a very bad stomach bug and UTI, so the dr. said to go off of it and to go back on it when everything clears up.  I've just now gotten my bowels back to somewhat normal.  Then, I came down with poison ivy 2x and then cornea dry eyes/contact problems. I also stopped taking Mobic. They say to go off Metho. whenever you have any kind of infection, so now I'm scared to go back on it. I feel it really brings my immune system down, and it takes so much longer for things to heal.  My appt. with the RA dr. is in August. I'm wondering what he is going to suggest. In the meantime, I feel more pain of course, but nothing too bad, except in my fingers.  My back hurts too, cause I have OA also.  Today I experienced a very dull pain in my left lower stomach area and called the Dr. and they advised that I go to the emergency room.  Luckily, after 30 minutes of pain, it subsided.  Of course if it comes back, I'll go to the ER.  Any thoughts on all of this?  Thanks...

Mimer; had to come off MTX when I contract a skin infection which  turned into MRSA, the flesh eating bacteria.  Was off everything myself for awhile.  Now on Sulfasalazine and Mobic.  I know you cannot heal  when on immune suppresants.    As soon as you have recovered they will put you back on meds.  Hope you're feeling better soon and email me if you need more info!

Mimer; I take MTX & Humira, both of which supress the immune system. I had to be off of both for about 17 days. I've been on them for so long it wasn't too bad....but the last three days got progressively worse.

I hope all of your infections clear up quickly so you can resume your medications. Sure does make you thankful for it doesn't it?

Feel better soon,

Lovie
