Mom’s knee replacement, broken tibea | Arthritis Information

Share

WEll mom lost her balance and placed all her weight on her right leg and managed to break her tibea ( below knee) bone. Since they do not make replacement parts for this particular knee prothesis, she has to have an entire new knee replacement on top of fixing the one. She is now back in the hospital.

My sis and I are beyond exhaustion, in fierce pain and now running back and forth to a hospital. Surgery will hopefully be Thursday or Friday...guess it isn't all gonna end just yet.

She is quite depressed and discouraged at this point.

Sorry Jode, Boy when it rains at your place it don't know when to stop!  I sure hope things improve for all of you soon

When her surgeon looked at her xrays this A/M after his surgery he called me but I had decided to pamper myself and bathe so while I was taking my bath he called my sis on his private cell phone.........he 2wanted her  back to the ER ( a different hospital this time) for more xrays, admission and surgery. The kicker is, to reserve her bed in the facility ( and it is nearly impossible to find a bed in a good facility around here)it costs us a whopping 0 a day and they will only keep it for 10 days. Do the math, it is unbelievable!

I don't know whether to cry or just go into denial.

I am going to rest now, my hip is killing me and I am full of pain. My brother-in-law stated that my sis an di need to take it easy and rest because she is in safe place being well cared for so we are to take it easy. Good advice.

I hope you take his advice Jode.

I really hope this gets better for you all very soon.

Thankyou so much!  We are hoping she does not fall into a deep depression and makes it throught he surgery ok.

(Feeling sorry for myself...and whining)I just entered the "empty nest" and now this...........I almost have to laugh at my bad luck!

Take your brother in laws advice Jode.  Your mum is in a good place right now and is being taken care of.  You and your sister need to look after yourselves at the moment.  If you need to visit, take turns and do it every other day.  Use the phone to visit too.  That way she won't feel neglected and you and your sister won't wear yourselves out.  Like we often hear here, take care of yourself first so that you can take care of others.

(((((hugs))))  I agree with everyone and take your BIL advice.  You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of anyone else!!!
