OT--speaking of music | Arthritis Information

Hi  Elaine. Dont be embarrased, we are music mad in this house and it ranges from Nat King Cole to Green Day. so the variety is there. I think we bring music into our own homes from our parents houses( what they liked) then we have our own tastes and then we get our kids music so we listen to such a diverse selection. I have 3 kids, my eldest is 19 and she loves UB40, Kenny G, Rod stewart, and then lots of R & B. My son is 15 and he loves kerrang, scuzz etc. My youngest is 13 and she loves all the chart hits. My husband is a Supertramp fan and Black Sabbath, I like Bon Jovi, Phil Colins but I also like Michael Bolton (off to see him next weekend) and Anyhow that was so long ago. I like soul, R&B  mostly. But I enjoy most music. love all music but at the moment, i'm ashamed to say, i just love disco!

Hi, good question. I grew up hating country music, but lately I've been really enjoying it. I have it in my mp3 player and in my car CD. My favorite singer is Patti Loveless. I have a whole CD ((150 songs) in my computer and can burn discs anytime. Alabama, Dixie Chicks, Dwight Yoakam, faith Hill, James Taylor , Linda Eder, Mary Black, Mary Carpenter, Neal Mcoy , Nora Jones (sorta country in her last album), Tim MCgraw , of course, Vince Gill and some oldies like Hank Williams! Lynda OMG this is my favorite topic!!!! I LOVE music!  HMM my favorites?  Tim McGraw by far...Hes gonna marry me he just dont know it yet

I love many different kinds of music from Mozart, to Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Blues, even some heavy metal when I'm in the mood.  I play mandolin in an amateur classical orchestra in San Francisco and electric octave mandolin / tenor guitar in a church worship band.  I also struggle with hand pain and stiffness but continue to play anyway.  I practice in short sessions of about 20mins with lots of rest in between.  The good news is the pain and stiffness hasn't gotten worse so hopefully I can continue playing for a long time.

n&t--yea i know i dont think Faith Hill is ready to give him up yet either but one day !!! LOL Yea i read an interview w/ them in one of the magazines i cant remember now and they do seem so down to earth.  They are just an amazing couple.  I love the "old stuff" too...Though im not a rolling stones fan...I grew up listening to what my dad loved, Beatles,Eric Clapton, The Who, etc  Its funny theres a station up here that is kinda like the oldies station but plays stuff from the late 60's and 70's and a couple months ago i turned it on and it was playin stuff from the late 80's early 90's..I guess thats how you know your gettin old

I loooooooooooooove music.  My dad had a love for music that he passed down to me.  I have vague memories of listening to CCR....Moody Blues....Jim Croce...Jimi Hendrix...Janis Joplin...Beatles...you get the idea lol.  All on reel to reel.  I still think I know the words to Leroy Brown lol.  I listen to anything from Classical to some Rap.  Hip Hop I can live without tho.  Stevie Ray Vaughn is my favorite musician.  I was lucky enough to see his last concert at Alpine Valley, WI.  The next day his helicopter crashed and he died.

I used to play instruments also.  I started off with classical piano and went on to guitar and flute.  I used to be able to play piano by ear.  I can no longer play because I can no longer stretch my fingers an octave or get my fingers and brain to cordinate themselves lol.

Music can be incredibly therapeutic also.  Calming music or even tho cd's with ocean sounds..rain sounds etc..are proven to lower pain levels and blood pressure.  I know I need music when I clean lol.  Makes it go faster it seems.

Name it. I'll listen to it. You just have to catch me in the right mood.

I do not like music. It makes my head fill cluttered and agitates me. I just cannot stand to be in the car with hubby... he ALWAYS has to have music on, and most of his music is not anything I want to hear. So, when I get in the car with him I turn it down to a volume I can easily ignore and then I am ok, until he turns it up. Then I get aggitated and start getting irritable and we usually have words.

But anywho... I sometimes will listen to music, but not much. I have been known to listen to Blink 182, Bryan Adams, and a few others from the 1990's.

Joonie...You must be fun on a car trip. All that from just listening to music....You on Pred?? I am a classic rock and roll girl at heart!  I also like some blues and funk, can't say I like country much but some of the newer songs aren't too bad!

Yes, 6t5frlane... I am on pred. But it was like that before the pred. When I am on a long car ride I usually go to sleep. Or I will slowly, but surely turn down the radio, and it works most times. I mean you try riding down the road with a radio blarring, a 2 year old & an 8 year fighting and crying in the backseat!  It would drive anyone nutz!

I can handle one or the other, but not both at the same time. And sometimes some of hubby's music is not something I want to hear. Most of his songs degrade women, and I do not want to hear it nor do my kids need to hear it.
