Alright. I need a new style. I know all you did was dye your hair Midgie, but now I'm like a basket case. I'm SICK of my style, it doesn't feel like me anymore. I hate my hair, I hate my clothes, I hate it all!! I've spent all my life so far, just wearing stuff that makes me blend in, but you know what? I'm just not someone who blends in. I think I'm ready to finally stand up and be me. You might laugh at me, but I painted my nails black today, and they are simply BEAUTIFUL. I don't know how much of my hair I'm cutting, but it's getting done next week, and I'll be sure to post pics. A lot has happened to me in my life this past two years, and I think it's time for a big change. Am I the only one who gets like this? This isn't the first time I'll have done an overhaul on myself, but this will be the first time I've done it and spent money on it. lol Anyway, I guess I'm just curious if I'm crazy, or if this is just how life goes. My mom's always been like this too!

Gawd no, you are not the only one.  In my 20's I think I changed hair color and style about once a month.

Its all about re-inventing yourself.  Have fun with it/ It's always fun to experiment and change your style!!!  Can't wait to see the hair!

Ok I can see Katie going to work in a pencile skirt and black fishnets and red 4" patent hi-heels to boot.

She is going to get a purple streak in her hair and start wearing Teal eyeshadow and BRIGHT RED lipstick, of course to match her red hi-heels.

Hahahahaha well, honestly the most comfortable I've felt in my skin was in college. Maybe that's a bit cliche but whatever. I took some hot pink hair dye and streaked my hair. I felt AWESOME. I wore whatever I felt like at the time, too. One day, I'd be all prep, even with my dyed pink hair. Then the next, it was all rock glam. But I enjoyed it all. At some point after that, I told myself that I was "too old" to be doing that stuff anymore. But as of late, with the way things have been, I've started to realize that you're just never really too old to do ANYTHING. I really didn't care what people thought about me in college, why should I care any more about it now? I'm only here once and I really want to be HAPPY the whole time. I had to add this quote I just found:

"How come people tell you to stay a kid for as long as you can. Yet the moment you do anything childish or immature they tell you to grow up?"

Lordie Joonie, Katie's after a new look not a new career! PMSL

Katie, you don't strike me a as a lady who 'blends in'. My mum is in her 80's, I recently commented that 'we are all 18 at heart'. "Do you mind" she replied "some of us think we are 17" So non of this "too old at 23" lady! You ain't old 'til it's over!

I guess you are in a bit of a rut and I don't think it takes RA to make us girls feel that way from time to time - we all need to do radical now and again. Put your whacky hat on and go for it. We look forward to the photos [QUOTE=joonie]

Joonie - I think this is not only your wish for Katie, but one for your secret self too!!
I change my hair all the time...well, the color. I rarely cut it. I just like to change the color. My poor husband. LOL (he prefers it when I'm my natural color...which is REALLY dark)

I used to just add TONS of highlights, but my hair is SO long now, and my hands just hurt too much to do it.

I love changing styles too. Right now I have short funky BRIGHT red hair with pink and darker purple in it. LOve love, love it.

Short hair is great as you can get away with the messy look and save your hands in the morning!

Have fun, good luck!

I think it's great you want to devote some energy to fixing yourself up :) I can't wait to see pictures. Will you post your "before" and "after" pix? I haven't done anything drastic with my hair/looks in forever. I envy women who are able to mix it up a bit and change hair color/style, etc on a whim.

Ah,but you know what? When it comes to clothing, shoes, and accesories, I'm the most conservative person EVER. When DH and I met, I shopped exclusivly at Casual Corner and Ann Taylor (the sale racks....I oculdn't afford full-price). I wore a SUIT on our 3rd date!!! He had on jeans! LOL

It took about 2 years (me getting pregnant really) for him to get me to "dress down". But even now, nearly 4 years not working I struggle with dressing casual! I HATE wearing jeans. Drives DH NUTS.

Go for it though...changing your hair! Even just adding some highlights! I had a dream last night I put in some hot pink extensions. I actually gave a friend of mine hot pink hihghlights once...they fit her SO well. She wants me to do them again, but I just don't know if my hands are up to the task. heh. I love doing hair though. Wish I had the time to go get a liscense in hair color! (I know my hands aren't up for it, nor is my body up for all the standing around doing color)

Yea Joonie I think this is a secret change that you want to do...HEHEHE i could just see the pics now LMAO

HI all, the most fun time I had was when I was working in Reno. It was in the 70's to 80s, and I wore those cool leather suade boots just above the calf with heels, (I had them in smooth leather in brown and black!, also) and those cute short skirts that are back in. I bought a muskrate fur coat, and had so much fun with clothes. We'd go to Harrah's and the shows and I'd get all dressed up. We'd go dancing at the Riverside Hotel (gone now), and lots of parties as my husband's partner was 'in to ' throwing big parties. When the El Dorado opened we had a week of parties as my husband did the design of the building. It was all great fun, and I hadn't though to it for a long time (OH my hair was in those top of the head 'things' all teased like Nefertiti the greek statue!!  thanks for bringing back those memories. LyndaThis thread reminds me of the time my husband asked me if he would ever see my real hair color.  Well, no you won't!  People always think I perm my hair (it is naturally very curly) and will ask if it is real.  I say yes even if I know they are probably asking about the color.  But I am very white with green eyes so I can get away with it.

When my daughter was about nine she wrote me a poem for mothers day.  Quote "I will keep your hair red, until you are dead".  I love that girls so much!

My girls are half African American and the rest Italian/Irish.  I always tease my girls that they got all the curl in their hair from me. My husband is always amazed with all the straightening irons we have, when his girls are always using curling iron on theirs.  We are never happy, are we?

I have dyed my hair Tropic in the Burgandy family. I turns your hair a purple tint. It was pretty nice. First time I ever dyed my hair, and that was about 5 years ago. I have thought about dying it that color again, but it seems like too much work. Shoulders been acting up

Have fun, Kaite!! Hope it turns out to be something you *LOVE*!

Yay! I'm dying it black, like a dark dark black. My eye brows and eye lashes are pitch black, so I can pull it off, and have done it before. I LOVED IT. I'm getting it cut short and choppy, with tons of layers. Something I can mess up and leave alone! I'm STOKED. It all happens this Tuesday on FOX. STAY TUNED. Hahahaha

Katie, be sure to post pics! Can't wait to see it.

My beautiful 17-year old granddaughter had long naturally blond hair down to her waist. Very thick. About a year or so ago, she cut it off and dyed it BLACK! I just about died! The only person I know with blond roots.

Now it has grown long again, but she keeps it black. Not only that but she has piercings in her nose. You'd never know, but she is the sweetest kid ever. And very intelligent! I just have to think back about how we dressed in the late 60's, early 70's. I really can't say much about her style.

Everyone who is doing changes, please post pictures!
