OT - Executor? | Arthritis Information

I live in Indiana.  My father passed away and the lawyer told my brother that because my dad didn't have a will naming someone as executor, that the state will come in and assume that role and take 45% of what my dad has left.  Is that true?  Anyone have any experience in this type of stuff?  That seems so unfair.

Lawyers are like doctors, I would get a second opinion right away!

Kweenb,

The state can take over estate but it depends on net worth of estate.

If it is under 0,000, they won't mess with it.

Go to probate lawyer and he/she can help.  Somethings they can put a family member in charge as an administor.

Good luck,

LuAnn
