clothes hurt | Arthritis Information

Does anyone else here experience this type of over-sensitivity? I really hate getting dressed in the mornings and can't wait to jump back in to my jammies in the evenings. It doesn't matter how soft the cotton is, the slightest seam drives me up the wall. I've taken to wearing stretchy elastic-waisted capris and t-shirts a size bigger than I wear. Ugh, it's driving me batty.

I think that is Fibro. My mommy's friend who has RA & fibro says you will know when you have fibro when everything that touches your skin hurts and makes you misrable.

Just a thought.

I get that when I'm too tired, it's like my skin hurts to touch  anything. My GP doesn't know what it is. I found the best thing to be going back to bed for a few hours.

Hi Deb, Yes I feel like that a lot. I wear only loose clothes, no buttons or zippers. At times even the sheet on me at night causes severe pain. If anyone puts pressure on my lower legs, near the ankle, it actually makes me scream.

One thing that helps at night is a sheepskin under my feet. I have to sleep on my back and my heels would hurt so bad it woke me up. But since I've had the sheepskin, they don't hurt at night.

I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy, in addition to RA, OA and several other health issues, but I've been told by my neurologist that the neuropathy can cause that and the rheumy said fibro can cause it too.

I just re-read your post and saw that you have neuropathy, too. I wish I had better suggestions for you, but aside from pain meds and something for nerve pain, I really don't know what else to try.

Good luck, I hope you find some real relief.

Gentle hugs,

Nini

Hi, when I was in such pain 3 months ago, everything bothered me. I had a favorite slinky night gown, robes that were soft and lived in them, washing everyday (my poor husband did my laundry!), I think all of this pain makes our skin sensitive. I'm so sorry.Lynda

There is a special name for that when someone is over sensitive like that and I will be darned if I can remember it.  Hubby has a knack of remembering stuff like that and I will ask him when he gets up.  This happens to our 15 year old daughter at times and it has to do with the nerves.  It also happened to me with my foot when my toes wouldn't move.  I was prescribed Lyrica from the neurologist to take care of it.  It worked pretty well.

Deb...call your neurologist and let them know what is going on.
