Falling | Arthritis Information

I have had RA for 4 years now and in the last year I have noticed I fall alot! Does anyone else fall all the time too?Well, I haven't fallen, but during my first (and only) major flare, it was my big fear.   I don't think I could have gotten back up.  Do you fall because you lose your balance, or do your legs just give out? I more have the "dropsies" versus falling a lot.  I think I am falling cause I over compensate for a particular area, does that make sense? Like if my right hip is "out" then I lean to far left, and boom down I go! Yes that makes total sense.  Whether we realize it or not...we will compensate if one of our body parts is not working the way it should be.  I have kind of a "rolling walk" to compensate for my knee.  Lurching around keeps me unbalanced and that causes me to fall.   I don't have a very graceful walk because of my knees, ankle, and feet.  Once I'm unbalanced that's it.  I haven't fallen for the last year because I've been extra careful but prior I fell 4 times in one year.  Fortunately I didn't hurt myself, just my pride.  Always managed to fall when there was a crowd around.  Lindy
