Hello, I’m new! | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone.  I've been "lurking" for a bit now, so I thought I would say hello, and thank you all for lifting my spirits.

Briefly- I am a 40 y/o female.  I was officially diagnosed in March of this year.  Previously my pains were attributed to arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease.  I take mtx 10mg on Tuesdays, Remicade inf. every 4 weeks, folic acid, and unfortunately due to drug allergies, some form of narcotic if it gets too bad.  I stopped predinsone due to it affecting my blood sugar, causing fainting spells.

I'm not sure what else to say, except thanks again.  I get very depressed sometimes when it hurts and I feel sooooooo tired all the time.  Plus, I had to leave my job, so I get quite bored, as well.

Waddles and Sara- Guess what?  I live in Norfolk, in Colonial Place!  Has it been hot enough for you guys?

Good days, everyone!

Hi Cheryl,

Welcome to the group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Hello Cheryl,

and welcome to our great group.

How nice to meet another Virginian and living in Norfolk too. but wish it wasn't because of RA.

Oh God yes, it has been hotter than Hades and I think twice as nasty.

My goodness you have had a time of it.

Is the Remicade working?  I think we will never really loose the fatigue part of the disease. That is my worst complaint too.

Like you, I too had to leave my job this past Dec.  I loved it there too, but between my husbands COPD and my RA, plus the inability to keep myself focused on the task at hand, from all the medications I take for it, I felt it was better to quit before they fired me.

I am glad that you decided to post, this group knows how and what we are going through and even though our family and friends try to understand, it is hard to do unless they are going through the same thing.

Once again, welcome aboard and hope you have many pain free days.

Toni

Thanks for all the warm greetings.  It certainly has brightened my day!

Roxy- I do indeed get hip pain that's pretty much on both sides.  The only pains I get in my butt are usually from my husband or 20 yr old son.

Toni- I've only had two rounds of Remicade; the loading dose and first maint.  No results yet, but I had some success with it during the worst of my colitis.  So I guess they decided to start there.  It took a couple or so months for it to work on the colitis.  Bless your heart dealing with your own stuff and your hubby's.  That can make fatigue so much worse.  It seems Tidewater is  is well represented here!!

Thank you all again for such warm messages.

Cheryl

Cheryl...do you live in Norfolk VA?

I live in Chesapeake...Glad to have you aboard!

Cheryl

Guzele...Welcome and glad your here!  I also had a bad bout with MRSA so know what your talking about.  I wonder how much longer I can work as well. I miss alot of work and have been on short term disability twice in two years.   Post often and stay in touch with us!

Hi, Cheryl & wilwin--

One more from Tidewater.  I'm in Virginia Beach, about 2 inches from the Norfolk line.  Now there are four of us that I know of--probably 40 more that don't visit here.  Now I ask you...do you suppose the RA is in the water?  Or maybe the *#%& humidity?

Definitely both...

Think I am going to have my water delivered from now on....

From where?  Portsmouth????  That should be interesting.....

Regarding this humidity and heat, I've gotten home from work each day and never come out till the next morning.  Then it's just to dash to the car and to work.  Who invented air conditioning, anyway?  Maybe I should write a thank you note.

It's probably the jet noise.
