So question for you all. im on 25mg methotrexate along with humira and was on enbrel.....i dont feel a diff on mtx at all like dosage wise. So why am i staying on it? i know it is supposed to make humir and enbral more effective..but i dont feel it. you think it would be ok to lower the mtx dose....its not doing much and not worth the side ffects. as it is im not doing well upped prednisone to 10 and feeling a bit better. im going to my rheumy next week and ill ask her but just wanted your alls opinions.

hope everyone is going well. guess what? i think I want to be a pediatric physical therapist :) thats the curren idea......just wait ill go back to doc somtime..haha Well, it might be doing something and you won't know until you go off it.
Then you might say "It WAS working"...this happens a lot, I hear. Or maybe
it's not doing diddly squat. You might work out a deal with your RD where
you reduce it by 5mg every 6 weeks and see what happens. Be sure to keep
a record of how your feeling so you can tell if you're getting worse, staying
the same, or feeling better.

Good luck.
First off discuss with your rheumy about decreasing the dosage of MXT.  With my rheumy's advice, I'm reducing MXT 2.5 mg.  In 3 weeks I'll be reducing another 2.5 mg.  How you reduce the dosage and the time between is based on your individual case.  Each of us are different in our reaction to MXT and how I've been advised to reduce might be different than how you're told.  Unfortunately, as you know it's not a cookie cutter disease and treatment certainly isn't.  I hope that you're successful in reducing or even stopping MXT.  I know I sure want to get to that point.  Like Gimpy pointed out it's important to keep a daily log.  Lindy  HI, is it possible to reduce both meds a little? I have had to increase Remicade and mtx a lot, and when I feel better I'd like to take the R less often and reduce the mtx. Could you do this? I understand wanting to 'get off of these meds' , Lyndawell yea of course i want to get off them all! but right now im not doing so well, the only reason i want to get of mtx is ive never felt a diff once it or when tapering up doses on it......

I imagine it's doing more than you think it's doing. You've been given good advice about decreasing it verses stopping it.

It's better to be on long term MTX than long term predisone.
