How do we do it everyday? | Arthritis Information

Our Weather here in VA has changed dramatically. It was blazing for the last 3 weeks, now it is rainy and cooled off some.  BUT MAN...has it done a number on my body!

I felt so good and had so much energy yesterday.  Yet, Last night, I could feel it coming... the big let down.  My energy started to plumet and I was so darn tired this morning.  AND my body is aching and joints are a burnin and the head is a hurtin

LORD...it sounds like a darn BLues Song! LOL

DDDDD...My body is a achin...DDDDD...achein for some pills...DDDDD...if I don't get some relief soon...DDDDD...I think I am Going to SCREAL...DDDDD....I called my Rheumy....DDDDD this is what she said....DDDDD...SHE said home girl....YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED AT HOME IN BED...I GOT THE... RA BLUES...THE FUNKY RA BLUES...Today have trouble tying my shoes...I GOT THE FUNKY, ACHEY, HURTIN...RAAAAAA BLUUEEEESSSSS

LOL...Had to get that out.

How do we do it everyday?   People i know would faint under the pain we endure most of the time.  We are a people with inconsistant bodies that function when they want.  There is not a pattern to this madness we go through.  AND YOU KNOW WHAT...DARN IT...WE JUST KEEP GOING and GOING AND GOING!

Even though I am hurting like I am today...I am at work...getting things together before I go out for surgery.

MAN...and we say we aren't a STRONG GROUP OF PEOPLE...Even in our weakness...We muddle through and jump the hurdles...even if we have to KNOCK a FEW DOWN in the process!

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Even on our laziest days we still endure more than the average person.  Love the song!!!! Maybe that could be our theme song.

Hope the hurt doesn't last to long.

Susan

ddddd the ra blues ddddd can't put on my shoes ddddddd the hips aches and pains ddddddd  especially when it rains ddddd  I just wish that I could sleep ddddd  but the pain runs so very deep ddddd

LOL I could not resist a second verse.  Been up most of the night.  I got the ra blues................

Here's what's cool, though.  Through all of this mess, I see humour pushing through.  I really believe this has been what has saved me from myself sometimes.  I mean, can you just see us all at a disco, clumsily shuffling to the RA blues????????

wishing all minimum pain, maximum peace,

Cheryl

WillWin2~I think we learn to be strong over time. If you listen here the newbies aren't quite as strong as some of the long timers. I think over time you accept your lot in life and learn to adapt a new attitude toward your life and what you face.

Sink or Swim so to speak...it's not nessesarilly the life we would have choosen...but it's the life we have and we have to learn to make the most of it.

You can either lay in bed and cry all day....or you can learn to muddle through; even when it's tough. Time gives you the strength to accept life the way it is.

And we are a strong group here. Very strong.

willwin2 i loved your blues song!!!  Even though it was about pain, it sort of actually made me feel better when i read it! thanks for sharing!

Did Lovey teach you how to do that stuff?? I'm still stuck with all the usual suspects

I'm beginning to feel like a real dud!

Love the song,

Hey Willin2,

Love the song, next time Im feeling that bad Ill make up my own blues song. I know what you're going thru with the weather changes. Chicago has been the pits for the last 3wks with 90+ temps almost everyday. This past Sunday it was 103 in the city and most suburbs. It finally started to cool of Wed, in the mid 70s, but to get to that point several storms had to pass thru. With me every change effects my arthritis. When its very hot and humid I swell more and I get fatigued quickly, but when Im in air conditioned places too long I start to stiffen and ache somethin awful. When it rains I can almost instantly feel the difference as the pain in my joints intensifies.

Believe me for the past few weeks ive had nothing but the RA blues. But just like you I kept pushing on trying to get as much as I could done. I think it takes that kind of persistance and determination just to deal with the sudden changes RA brings to your body. If we stop too long we wont have the will to get up and go again(and neither will our joints.)

Im not as creative as you are but if I think of another verse Ill be sure to add it to your song.

Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed the song, sing thru the pain

LindaJooniper, I have a standing order for blood draws once a month.  I thought everyone did.  Whether I feel good or bad, I get the big stick every month (actually I get the ped's stick because my veins go into hiding).  Can't say I blame them, some of those phlebotomists are dangerous.  I just love it when they don't find blood and they start moving that needle around.  Don't they know that hurts?  I'm always so nice and grit my teeth and keep smiling but I'm afraid one of these days I might actually yell at someone....or give them a black eye!

As for standing order... i have one for every 2 months... ive had good results for the first year, so he moved it to 2 months.. plus i explained how bad it was that i was terrified of needles and they could never get me in the first poke. Go figure that the one lab tech that got me and was done before i knew she had started works at the lab that no longer takes my insurance!!!

Sure getting a kick out of everyone's musical posts....the humor in spite of the pain, makes it a little more bearable. As a newcomer to the whole RA thing, I was wondering based on all the comments about whether and RA flares, what do most of you find causes problems?  I am finding that my body cannot stand the heat.  I used to be a sun goddess spending as much time out there in the summer as possible and now find the heat unbearable.  I find I ache more, swell more, and seem to flare more in general.  The cold can also get to me if it comes on suddenly after a warm spell.  IS this the norm , I always though arthritis suffers had more trouble with cold, but I find the heat the worse?

Hope you don't mind the question in the midst of all the humor, but the songs about the heat and flaring got me thinking...so to end on a funny note, here's my own verse for the day...

"This heats got me blue, da da da da da, can't get on my shoe, da da da da da.  My poor wedding band, da da da da da, is stuck on my hand, da da da da da.  I have Prednisone face, so round and so swollen....da da da da....my kids have offered to use it for bowlin' da da da da da.  Oh my bodies achin' da da da da da feels like everythings breakin' da da da da da....yeah I got the blues, can't get on my shoes....da da da da da.

I have a sticking qouta too...NONE..LOL.

But really, I just do not like needles. I do not like the pinching feeling it gives off and most times then not it sends the pain straight to my head. I will let them take my blood, but I act like a big baby the whole time. I have actually had a few good blood takers, meaning when they stuck me I barely felt it. But I have more then my fair share of bad blood takers too. It is awful. I hardly ever get the butterfly I get the ig bulky syringe where they have to interchange the viels which moves and pulls while they are changing the viels out. Man that stuff is awful more bruising then neccessary.

Do you guys think it easier to get blood test done with the butterfly or the regular needle? I think it's easier with the butterfly because you don't feel the needle moving inside you when they change the vials. I hate that feeling!

My viens go invisible too! The problem is that my viens are so small, the blood takers have such a hard time finding them. The record for number of "pokes" before finding the vien was 4 times! After the 4th time they moved to my other arm! Thankfully, the other arm was successful. I hate going to have a blood test...I too hate the pinching feeling. I don't feel like a baby anymore...now that there are other ppl out there that feel the same way I do about needles!

Hi Becky,  I have the same problem with the heat.  It is barometric pressure.  Less outside pressure, our bodies can swell more.  I definitely swell more in the heat.  The cold causes more deep down aches and pains for me.  I can definitely predict when it is going to rain.  This heat has been getting to me.  My knees swell if I stay on my feet much.  IT SUCKS!

ddddd its the ra blues dddddd in the heat we swell dddd and feel like hell dddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Hope you feel better.  I am still learning also.  One day at a time, one day at a time.

Unicorn,  I have a degree in ecology, so I have taken a few Biology and chemistry-YUK classes.  I loved Biology, chemistry gave me migraines!!!!!

I'm not sure I've ever had the Butterfly? I always turn my head the other way once they get that rubber bank thing on. I can't look!!

I'm use to it now, but I still try to just look the other way as soon as they start.

Personally I request they use a butterfly needle, cuz my veins are small and hard to find. And on top of that they move whenever a needle is coming at me( go figure). If they hurt me too much I will let them know quickly. I bruise easily when it comes to getting stuck anyway so either you have to know what your doing or dont mess with me.

Love the songs!! Best thing I have read all day!! I'll be humming them all night.

For me it's the dampness/humidity and not the actual heat/cold. In Boston it's been hot/humid, rainy/damp, or hot/dry. I'll take hot/dry over the other two. The humidity makes me sweel like mad.

I always get the butterfly too. I have my bloodwork done every three months. Once I had a vampire (a.k.a phlebotomist) use a straight needle, miss my vein, move the needle around IN MY ARM and hit the bone! I nearly fell off the chair in pain and I have a high thresh hold!

wow!  what a great discussion we got going!!!   love the songs!!!

Weather???   I'm in hot and humid Houston TX suburb.  Humidity is the worst...I swell.  In the cold, my bones ache all the time.

Hi guys,

been enjoying reading the songs and posts too.
Haven't posted much lately..been really tired, achy
and bummed because I have now gained 18
pounds!!!

Love the smilie site. Thanks for sharing!! Not able
to get them to work for me though.. is it cut & paste?

As for the blood work, my veins disappear too. I was
wondering lately if it was because I was so
overweight. I have a standing monthly test and today
they took the blook from the back of my hand...and no
bruise or pain! Is that the butterfly? I'm pretty used to
blood tests becaue I have taken meds for epilepsy
and always have to have tests for that.

Hope you all have a great evening and a wonderful
new day tomorrow!
