I have much success with 200 mgs of plaquenil .(the only thing I take) My hands feel soooo much better but am developing headaches. They are the same headaches I had when on prednisone.
Question for those who experienced headaches on this medication.:
Can you decribe the headache?
Was is bad enough to make you discontinue plaq?
If you did stop how did it take for the headaches to go away? was is immediate?

I do believe my headaches are from Plaquenil but not bad enough for me to discontinue it. It's more of a dull....just kind of there headache. Definately not anywhere near a migrane. My main problems with Plaquenil are that it makes me dizzy, seems to make me feel off balance and has been really hard on my stomach. It upsets my stomach and feels like it's burning a hole right through. I'm supposed to be on 400mg per day but have only been able to take 200mg at night after dinner. Sorry I can't be of more help with the headache issue but I'm sure someone will come along....Take care.

Mine were bad and fairly often, I went to methotrexate and they stopped. LyndaI had mild to moderate headaches at first, then they stopped after a few days, then had another one yesterday and today, possibly from something other than Plaq. It's not bad enough to make stop taking it, the headache seems like the lesser of the two evils. Good luck. I hope eventually your body will adjust and the headaches will stop completely.
