A Steamy Prednisone Question | Arthritis Information

I have been on a 6-day Prednisone burst since Friday. This is the first time I
have ever taken it--my rheumy wanted to see if it would eliminate my
symptoms. The pills are 4 mgs each. Friday I took 6 of them spaced
through the day and they will decrease to 1 on Wednesday.

I hate to say this, but I haven't felt this great in years! I have actually woken
up the last 2 days with no morning stiffness or swelling. Here's my
question: for the last 2 nights I have had terrible night sweats to the point
where my sheets and pajamas are slightly damp. Is this a common side
effect? Thanks! :)Yes- along with other things, have to take the good with the not so good I guess. Glad your feeling better though!

Hugs,

Jen

Hi, Yes I feel terrific, and yes I have had those night sweats. My doc recommended taking all the dose in the morning. It worked for me. Lynda

Oh yes the sweats are a side effect.  And now being on the pred kinda shows that you prolly do have RA.  That is what our rheumy did with Danielle too.  If you feel better on the pred and symptoms go away...its the JRA.

I am glad you are getting relief from the pred!!  Just don't overdo ok??

I've been on pred for a year now and never had any side effects from it. My dr told me that theoretically I could take pred forever with no side effects. I take 7mgs daily. Soon to be zero. enbrel is working.

Wow.  It has been proven that long term pred usage does cause side effects.  Like bone loss.  Diabetes. I know kids can't be on it for a very long time because it can affect their growth and puberty.

Yes!  I sweat as well, but it is worth every drop.  I just convince myself that it is all the crap leaving my body.  Thanks for the replies! I thought I was going crazy for a minute! Yesterday I
was down to 4 tablets and the flashes weren't as bad. I'm glad to be feeling
better, but I don't want to be on this stuff for any longer than I have to be!
Thanks to everyone for the help!
