parents of children w/jra? | Arthritis Information

The Parents board I normally visit is s-o-o-o dead right now, it looks the Suzanne board, so I'm backing off posting there for now. Unfortunately, that leaves me bothering adults w/RA and trying to translate info from their experiences to my daughter's experience. I DO find adults to be very helpful, don't get me wrong, but miss communicating w/other moms as well.

I tried one other parents board, but it is very slow to load pages because they have so many pictures, etc.   Reading a thread takes forever. This site is great about speed! Suzanne, you need to speak with GrammaSkittles. She has 2 daughters with RA, and she has it herself. I know that she has a few boards she can share with you that have great activity for mothers of kids with JRA. She's on this board as well, though she's flaring right now so you may need to wait a few days to hear from her...sorry!! I'll let her know about this post!!! :)Thanks, Katie! I did see her post about her hands (my daughter has one finger that looks like that).

I'll look back for an older reply I had from her when I first joined here. I know she mentioned some sites, but I didn't keep them because I thought I had enough boards to keep me (too) busy at that time. I really like how this site is set up and how fast it is.

Thanks again!

Suzanne...try www.kidsgetarthritistoo.com

It loads pretty quickly for me (I am on a cable connection) and there are not too many pics there to hold it up.  It is a little quiet but it isn't dead.  Hope to see you there!

Hope your daughter is doing well!!!

Thanks Katie for letting me know about this post!

Thanks! I am registered on that board, and I went back today. It's not really the loading, but all the pics do slow things down too much, just because of the space they take up! You have to scroll down a whole screen, for a post that says, "Thanks!"

I like seeing the pics, but maybe just once per thread!!!    Am I being too picky?? LOL.

My daughter is doing well, thanks for asking. She has strep right now, and I was so worried she would flare.   I have seen a lot of moms post that strep is their worst fear, flare-wise. But she is doing great! (Knock wood).

Yeah strep scares the heck outta me lol.  I got strep A once from the kids.  I was asymptomatic to it too.  Didn't have a flippin clue lol.  What happened was I was on a pred pack for the RA. My 15 year old (she was in kinder when this happened) got chicken pox over spring break.  Then of course Danielle got it ( she was 3...no jra yet..that happened at 12).  5 days after Danielle broke out I was in the hospital with a viral syndrome and strep A.  Had 2 spinal taps to make sure I wasn't developing meningitis.  What happened is people on pred packs have to avoid people with chicken pox!  Of course I couldn't and whammo got soooooo sick I spent one night in ICU in isolation and 3 days on the regular floor.  Nice, eh.

Glad your daughter is doing well!!!  Hope that continues for her!!!

Here is another site I forgot about.  It's for kids and parents. http://www.kidsunlimited.info/
