Flare is my middle name | Arthritis Information

I've been reading the posts but haven't been posting. I've been under alot of stress and "we" know what that does.

My health insurance got all mixed up and I was getting all of these bills. After several calls to the company and Docs offices, I hope that it's all straighten out.

I've been having trouble walking as my back has been givening me trouble. Then on top of that, my fused hip joint has decided to flare up. This isn't good as it's on the same leg as my total knee replacement.

Then I had to do jury duty and it was a very long walk from the parking lot to the court house. Talk about getting unhappy joints. At day's end, I didn't think that I was going to make it back to my car. Kept telling myself, just one more block up this hill. You can do this! It's good for you. After I got home, my muscles and joints were complaining. Oh, forgot to say that it was HOT out too.

For those of you who don't know me, I've got restrications on the use of my left thumb, wrist, and shoulder. Can't do heavy lifting, no lifting above shoulder level, and forget about prolong grasping, turning or pinching with the left thumb.

Finally, I'm trying my best to cope but there are days when I just want to crawl back in to bed because I'm so tired.

Arthritis isn't fun!

Marisa,

I'm sorry to hear about your insurance trouble...yucko!  Hopefully it's all straightened out as we really don't need added stress.  How long were you on jury duty?  I got called a few months back and had to call them.  The clerk was really nice and when I explained my situation to her, she took me off the list and excused me.  I felt kind of guilty as I do feel that it is my duty but I know there is no way that I could sit there or even if I would be able to make it from day to day.  As far as those days when you feel like crawling back into bed...we all have those sweetie and yeah those days just stink!  Take care of yourself & I hope you're feeling better.

Peace & Love...Neasy

((((hugs)))) to you marisa!  Have you thought about getting a disabled parking placard?  You sure deserve one.

Sorry to hear of the insurance issues.  I really hope they got themselves straightened out.

Feel better soon you are missed!

Neasy, in Ca., jury duty is one day unless you're placed on a panel. You can get a excuse or a transfer but can only do it 2 times. The first time I got the summons, I was getting ready to have my total knee. They delayed my duty for 8 mos. You have to be half dead before they let you off.

GS. thanks. I'll try to post more but I have to be careful not to over do with my hand.

Marisa is right. I also live in Calif. and unless you have one foot in the grave, they will not excuse you. The last time I had to serve, I had a doctor's note stating that I have RA and that it would not be possible for me to sit in a cramped jury box all day. I showed the note to the judge, and he still would not excuse me. He said all I had to do was raise my hand when I needed to get up and stretch and he would call a short recess. Unbelievable.

That was 2 years ago, and I'm scheduled again in October. It was originally scheduled for July 23, but seeing as how I'm in a terrible flare, I was able to postpone it until October.

Also, my work does not cover jury duty, so I must use my vacation time to serve. Two years ago, the case I was on lasted just short of two weeks, so there went my vacation. That's just WRONG!!
