I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Lisa and I need some advice. I have had gastric bypass 6 months ago and have started having severe arthrits pain in hands and back, I take balacet for the pain but it is no longer working for me but I can't take any NSAIDS. I would love to hear any advice. Thankks

Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Some days this is the only thing that keeps me hanging on. I also am allergic to NSAIDS, and do suffer during the day. I have tried ice packs etc. I do take vicodin at night, but hate the feeling during the day. I am still trying to operate with the mentality that I am not sick or do not have this disease. I have psoriatic arthritis, but what works for RA usually works for me, and I love the support.
I will be talking to my RD about what to do during the day.

This is Leroy, (newbie as of last week), when my Wife had her procedure done ( 14 yrs ago) She was having challanges with other meds she was using. it was due to the absorbshion rate and how quickly everything moves through the system after the by-pass.Maybe there is something else that could be absorbed faster?
Just keep checking, don't giveup! you will find something that helps.

Do you have a rheumatologist? Talk to your PCP or current physician about your issues. There are lots of people here with VAST amounts experience and helpful advice. Feel free to Start a topic anytime and there are no stupid questions. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Hi and Welcome Lisa. Because of the procedure that you had and your allergies to NSAIDS you need to talk with your doctor. Have you been to a rheumatologist? Keep us posted. Lindy
