Hello all,

Since May I had popping and discomfort in my right ear, thought I had a cold in it, but no, then thought ear wax, but no, so went to the doctor who said it was fluid in my tube in my ear, so tried decongestants / steriods etc, but then started getting earache, so went to an ENT specailist, who couldn't find anything wrong with it. Dentist said all is fine, but have been given antibiotics incase something lurking there.

No change, but jaw has started to ache a little as well, so I need to see a Rheumatologist.

Has anyone else had something similar and is this arthritis do you think? If so, what will happen if it is, is there something to cure it?

Thanks Annette

Welcome to the forum Annette.

Alot of us here with RA have problems in the jaw joint with inflamation; which could probable feel like the ear area.

I personally don't have this problem but I know some do. I hope yours turns out to be something else entirelly.

Best of luck to you.

Lovie

THE JAW INFLAMMATION CAN EFFECT THE EARS AS WELL.  I'VE HAD THE PAIN IN MY RIB CAGE OF ALL THINGS SO IT IS POSSIBLE.  HOPE YOUR FEELING BETTER SOON.  LET YOUR RHEUMY KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.  THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE THERE  FOR!!

I have RA in my left jaw, my MD sent me to an ENT to see what he could do, because along with the RA I constantly get ear infections because of the fluid backing up.  The ENT put a slit in the ear drum and it relieved a lot of pressure.  So whenever it starts filling up again, I need to have that done.  Every little bit helps to get pressure off of the jaw.

Thanks Lovie, Karen and Mina.

Mina my ENT said all was OK and no fluid, but thanks, so like you said Karen will have to wait till I see my Rheumatologist, whenever that will be, taking omega 3 6 9 now, which helps your body anyway.

Just to say though, there is alot of people on here, which are in more pain and it has opened my eyes to how bads things can be, my wishes to you all out there that are suffering and hope you all get will soon.

Best is to be positive, try and get on and laugh, I do.
