Does anyone take this for their RA. This has been given to me by my old RD. I saw him today but am I glad I am seeing a new one next time. This Doc, got angry with me cause the Humira gave me bad side effects. He also injected me with prednisolone into my knee joint but hurt me like hell( my G.P. Never hurts) and then put an elastoplast over the injection site when in Huge red letters on my file it says ALLERGIC TO ELASTOPLAST. I told him that I was suffering bad cramps in my legs and stabbing pains in my feet, he said "oh okay" and left it at that.  Cant wait for my new appointment

That doctor doesn't seem to be the brightest...glad you're seeing a new one soon.

Oh...make sure you have regular eye exams while taking that and that your eye doctor is familiar with plaquenil and the effects it can have with your eyes. Many thanks, I have just realised that it is plaquenil. If my rheumy had read my notes he would have realised that i have been on it before. Oh boy he is a real clown Geeeeeze this one needs to step away from the crack pipe too.

The injection may have hurt because your RD might not have mixed lidocaine in with the cortisone.  My PCP and my RD ALWAYS mix lidocaine in with the cortisone.  Not only does the shot not hurt as much, you also enjoy 6-8 hours of NO PAIN in the area!!!!  Somehow, after reading what you wrote, I can believe he didn't use any lido at all.

Were the bad cramps and stabbing pains in your leg BEFORE or AFTER your cortisone injection??

Liz - they were there before.I keep getting stabbing pains in my calf muscle and cramp and the underneath of my foot( in the arch area) The rheumy said I have tried every med on you, if you are having side effects from the humira then you will have the same with the other biologics and I cant help you, there is nothing left to try.

I am desperate for a try at anything

Lisa,

I've been taking Plaquenil since 2004.  Like you, it worked for a while.  When my RD added MTX several weeks ago, I asked if I should stop taking the Plaquenil.  I'm not quite sure how he worded it, but basically he told me to keep taking it because if I had a good result from the MTX, the Plaquenil would help me maintain those effects.

HUmmmm.... well my old and forgetful RD is not as bad as your young and spry RD. At least my RD "remembers" (reads my file before RXing meds) that I have been on everything and am allergic to Sulfa and that is even after almost 4 years of not being to see him.

Kick that RD to the curb and let the street cleaner pick him up.

Good Luck with the new RD!

I think if your current RD thinks the others will not work for you since, Humira did not, then maybe Kineret will, since it is a different blocker. Worth asking about.
