Jaw Creakiness | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone:

I've not posted much - but find you all to have lots and lots of experience and information.  :)  I have been experiencing a lot of jaw pain and creakiness.  I'm talking even cracking and creaking when I talk.  If I'm the only one talking and there's not a lot of background noise - it's kind of disconcerting, especially since I've been told it's audible by those I'm speaking to.  Yikes.

Do any of you experience this?  What have you done about it?  I'm taking Arava, Prednisone, etc...was on Remicade, methotrexate, plaquenil to no avail.  I cannot try other biologics at this time due to cost even with our insurance.  I suppose I need to discuss it with my doc - just seems there's always something, you know?

I guess I just wanted to whine a bit.  Thank you so much for listening!

Jen

Hi Jen,

yes I get the same with my jaw. the rhuematologist called it tmj and said its common with psoriatic arthritis so i guess it would be with RA also.

Thanks Ally.  I appreciate the note.  It's sometimes just nice to know I'm not alone!  Have a good night.

Jen

You are not alone, Jen. I've had it for several years and sometimes it locks up and really, really hurts when I try to get it moving, and a very audible pop sound happens.

I find that it is always bad when I eat pizza! The crust just makes it grind and pop, like a creaky, rusty old car door.

It has also awakened me, with terrible pain and pretty much out of socket, and the pain to get it back in is awful.

Be sure to tell your doc about it. Mine just told me it was probably arthritis. Could be rheumatoid or osteo. I have both and both can occur in the jaw. Might as well, I guess...I have one kind or the other throughout my body.

Be well. And come on anytime to whine. That's why we're here.

Hugs,

Nini
