I was watching the True Hollywood Story of Andrea Yates the other day. Very interesting... All's I got to say is men are the root of evil, and they say women are. All her problems she encountered were at the hands of men. I ain't no man hater... but it seems after watching that documentary, I got a cup-o-hater-aid. Poor woman. I feel sorry for her. I can understand why she done what she felt she had to do. Those babies are truly in a better place.
No one forces another to commit murder that was a choice she made for herself. Save your sympathy for her dead babies. Those little ones deserved a chance at life bfore they went "to a better place"
Joonie - what a huge truth you have stated. This religious persecution of women by these offshoot weirdo churches is as bad as what they do to women in the Mid East (well, at least we dont cut off their female parts as far as I know). I have to agree with you, those children are lucky in a way not to have to be subjected anymore and grow up with all that bs being shoved down their throats, but murder is unacceptable. And all that poor woman needed was medication, a society that accepts post partum depression as a real, treatable disease, and positive family and CHURCH support. Then, we wouldn't have to be discussing this subject. This disease needs to be recognized for what it is. A Disease.kel
A prime example of yet one more person slipping thru the cracks of the mental health system.
A combination of a zealot, her family, and the mental health system caused this tragedy.
Thinkthinn, your story of your niece touched my heart. I am so glad that she reached out and that you were there for her in her time of need. So glad to hear that she is doing well.AMEN GRAMS!Yep, Grammaskittles, EXACTLY!
Buckeye, I do feel sorry for those poor babies, I cried while watching the show. I cried because they died so young and at the hand of their own mother, but she at the time was not their mother.
They lady does deserve to be in the mental health facility were she is to spend the rest of her life. Her husband said she has had many relapses while being in there. She is where she needs to be.
She was failed by her hubsband, he wanted to keep having kids because that is what their religion was about. She has already had post-partum depression with their 4th child, and they got her better. The 5th child really put the post-partum in overdrive.
Her doctors failed her. One of them took her off her depression meds, because he felt she was better.
The health care system failed her they would only keep her for 2 weeks at a time and then discharge her and she could not be readmitted for a month.
The proscutions medical examiner, "failed" her because he stated that she was copying an episode off Law & Order where a woman drowned her kids and got off the charges, and the jury believed him. Later it was found out there was no such episode and they retried her.
Hi Gimpy, I am sorry. I thought it was you that replied, it turned out to be Buckeye. I just got confused sorry... please forgive me? Pretty Please with cherries on top.
Oh I thought her husband should have been held accountable. She supposedly had suicidal attempts and severe postpartum depression w/each pregnancy yet her husband kept on impregnating her, moved her and the kids into an old BUS and made her home school all of them. I say "MADE" her do it becuse she obviously was in a frail state of mind, he had to help her and he didn't. She sits in a prison now and he is remarried and no doubt having more babies. He had a responsibility to protect his wife from herself and his babies from his wife. Ooookay.....I gueeeeeeessss I can.........f-f-f-f-f-forgive you. BUT DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. Or else! Or elssssssse.......uh.........okay...I forgive you! Or else I do not get any cherriesAndrea Yates needs to be in a locked ward for the rest of her life getting help. What she did was horrific, but she was truly mentally ill at the time.
Her Xhusband needs to have his balls split with a rusty spoon. He KNEW she was unstable that day and still left her alone with the kids. I serously feel he should have been tried as an accessory at the very least.
Gee Gimpy you don't want to be confused with me-lol !!!
It is a tragedy the adults in the lives of those babies failed them in the most horrific way. I have sympathy for the circumstances that led up to the killings. She loses it though when she calmly called 911 and admitted to doing it...it demonstrates conscious thought
Kathy. you post made me laugh because on Oprah today she told about an older woman who during a rape attack, grabbed the guys penis and held on and twisted it until the rapist begged her to call 911. I am still chuckling about it. OMG
