Who has hypothyroid????? | Arthritis Information

I am rather curious who on this board has thyroid problems and what came first thyroid or RA?????

(I have thyroid problems but chemo induced)I have Hashimoto's Syndrome, which is hypothyroidism (auto-immune). I
was diagnosed with that the same week I was diagnosed with RA.

I'm hypothyroid.  I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 15 years before I was diagnosed with RA.

Peace & Love...Neasy

I have hashimoto's.  It came before the RA diagnosis.  Maybe by a year or two.I also have hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism came last. I have Hashimotos. dxed in 1991, total thyroidectomy in 2002.  Considered a "localized" autoimmune disease treated by endocronologists, as opposed to a "systemic" autoimmune disease which is treated by a rheumatologist.  Coding to divvy up our body parts to save money.

I was asking because it seems thyroid problems can mimic so many different other things that I could see why some people are being mis-diagnosed.

Just one of those curious thoughts that wandered thru my brain

I also have hypothyroidism, diagnosed about a year ago, well after my RA diagnosis. In December my RD noticed that my thyroid was enlarged, so he ordered a thyroid ultrasound, which came back positive for a large mass on the left side. He then sent me to a surgeon, who did a left side thyroidectomy this past February. The final path report came back as follicular adenocarcinoma. I'm currently taking Levoxy 100 mcg. daily.

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

I was dxd hypothyroid around the same time as I was dxd with RA, although I had been 'borderline' for about 18 months and 'diagnosed' with RA 8 years earlier - that's another story/mystery.

I used to use a quit smoking forum (yay! I quit!) where quite a number of people reported being very tired as a withdrawal side effect only to be diagnosed with hypothyroid. The theory being that nicotine can mask a lot of ailments. I chuck this one in as an instance of masked ailments and hyper tiredness.

I'm on 75mg of levothyroxine per day.

I have multi-nodular goiter for which I take 50 mcg of levothyroxine everyday.  Nodules first appeared 2 years before joint pain started.  Never considered any commonality between 2 conditions.  I've had a biopsy (a year ago) because two of the largest nodules were "cold" but no malignancy.  Am told they'll remove thyroid if nodules compress my windpipe (or show signs of growth..)  So far, so good.
