upper arm pain? | Arthritis Information

I have had pain in my upper left arm for months. I had assumed it was from the shoulder joint radiating down my arm, but the area has always been very tender to touch as if the muscle is sore. It is getting worse and today was like a constant burning pain in a very localized spot. Any ideas? I am having some nasty hip/back pain as well which I think might be from a damaged nerve-perhaps this is a nerve as well (?). It is getting a bit too painful to keep ignoring it. I have a similiar spot on the top of my left leg where it joins the hip. (?) Never get any answers from my gp so I figured I would see if anyone here has had this.

Laker Dear did you move into MY body? And if you did why am I still hurting?

Laker, I'm so sorry you are hurting. I was just going to ask if you have fibro, but Mona beat me to it.

But it could also be any number of problems in your shoulder that are radiating down. I would see the doctor and ask if there is any way he can determine why you are in pain in that area. You might also have neuropathy. That can cause all kinds of pain and strange feelings in your arms and legs. Mine affects my legs more, but your arms can have it, too.

I just re-read your post, and the burning really does sound like nerve pain. I really think you need to get it checked.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs,

Nini

Hi , I had tht terrible knifing pain down my L arm 3 months ago after the heart operation. I ws convinced it was from my arms being layed out at my shoulders for 5 hours. I suspected my bracial nerve had been damaged. I took Gabapentin, vicoden, oxycodone, you name it ,  without relief and only 'got rid of it' after taking 15 mgs of prednisone, and beginning the RA treatment of Remicade and the mtx. It is an awful pain and I hope you can get help soon, I cried every day with it, never experienced anything so bad. Lyndai had a similar pain after having my gall bladder out a few years ago . it was so bad. after about three weeks of terrible pain i went to doc , he said it was a cold shoulder from surgery. that air gets into the shoulder pocket. i used heat and cold packs and eventually it went awayoops I meant frozen shoulder not cold shoulder ( that stupid brain fog again)Laker, I too have awful continuous burning pain right up my arms, mainly on the undersides, in fact it was that pain that led to my Polymyalgia Rheumatica diagnosis, and eventual sero negative RA as well.  My pain is not coming from my shoulder though, it seems to come on up from the wrist, and gravitate upwards.  I always describe it to my Dr. as a big Chinese burn inside and right up my arm.  Do you know what I mean by Chinese burn??   It is something awful big brothers used to do to their nuisance little sister!!

Thank you. I do have neuropathy and nerve problems. Sounds like it could also be fibromyalgia. I will make a dr appt. with my gp. I just don't have much faith that she will figure it out, but it is a place to start. Perhaps she can at least suggest some way to relieve it. I'm sorry for those of you who have this, and on top of the RA! Hope you all are well.

Laker
