I have been on Plaquentil and haven't had a recent eye exam. I know it is a low risk but I still should have had the eye exams. Has anyone developed the retinopathy due to the Plaquenil?Yes you should have your eyes checked every 6 months while on Plaquenil. While very rare it is a remote possibility.
Just get your eyes checked and don't worry about it.I am really surprised that your RD will write you a RX without the exam. I
was not allowed to take the med until the opthamologist had done the exam
and cleared me to take it. It is a good idea to have them checked even
though the possibility of problems is very low.
