hi I was wondering if anyone had any information on what will happen at my eye appt. in two days . I am a bit nervous about it. I have had iritis 4 times in the last 6 mths and my mum has glaucoma and her dad did also. I was told that drops or dye will be put in the eyes and I wont be able to see properly after. is that true, and is it painful?

yah a little blurry, but it doesn't hurt. I hate eye drops and was nervous about going the first time as well and it was really nothing. They put the drops in and wait like 10 or 15 min. Your eyes get dry and sticky feeling and once the doc sees your pupils are nice and wide (you look like your stoned or something lol) she can take a look at the back of your eye. You will have no problems with it :)

PS it goes away within a couple hours so make sure if you drive someone must drive you home, and bring sunglasses!

It's not painful to have your eyes dialated...just strange.  After a few minutes you'll notice trouble focusing with your vision.  I agree it's a good idea to have someone drive you if you can since it takes awhile for your eyes to adjust back to normal.  I have always had to drive myself.  My eye doctor gives me dark disposable glasses and I do fine.

thanks for the replies guys it has made me feel less worried about it.OH MY GOD!!!!! I drove myself to my eye app. the day they dialated me. I thought I had good sunglasses and didn't use the "granny glasses". Big mistake, huge.
