feeling down - my Rheumy appt. | Arthritis Information

I must have turned off alarm in my sleep because hubby called to let me know he was leaving work to meet me there in 10 min. Oops! I threw on clothes and brushed my teeth and out the door without taking my meds...

Rheumy said my labs looked good and I had very little swelling, so he wants me to reduce mtx a bit. Hubby told him I have been thrashing around in my sleep like I am in pain and I wake up around 4am most mornings in agony.  I take a pain pill and go back to sleep for another 5-6 hrs. Rheumy asked if meds were working on my pain and I told him they were, but good grief! Before bed I take 1200mg neurontin, ativan, flexeril, ambien cr, and hydrocodone 10/325. I should be in a 10 hr coma.

I am just so tired of being in pain. Everything is such a huge effort. I am a neat freak and messes stress me out to no end, though I am really trying to get over it. I'm still grieving over having to put down our sick kitty last week too.

I really need a vacation/change of scenery...wish we could afford one right now.

(((deb))), I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty, and your pain, and your rheumy visit.  That's a lot to deal with!

I'm glad hubby went with you to the doc and spoke up about your pain.  Sometimes I think the drs need to hear it from a family member. Other than the pain meds, is the dr doing anything else to try to treat the pain?  I mean it's great if your labs look good, but if you're having so much pain, maybe you should keep the mtx up, or try something else?

Although I'm not exactly neat, I do like things a certain way and it is hard to let go.  I just try to remember what's important, which is the people in our lives, not the stuff in the right place.

As for a vacation, maybe you and hubby could take a "vacation at home" for a weekend?  You know, pretend you're tourists, see the local sights, eat out, try to relax, and don't do anything on a "to do" list.

Aww Deb.  I'm so sorry you are in such pain.  How do you feel during the day?  It's good that you can reduce you're MTX, anyway.  And what did the doc say about your bad nights?Deb, did she change anything up. Take it easy, and do small things at a time.  The pain has to be addressed, because it will only get worse if you try to be supper women.

(((Deb)))  I'm so sorry to hear about your appt.  I'm also so sorry to hear about your kitty.  Sending you lots of hugs and understanding.  I totally understand about being tired of being in pain.  It gets so darned old - all we an do is support each other.  I'm so sorry that things are the way they are.  I'm glad to hear that your hubby joins you are your appointments.  It helps to have that support.

Sending lots of prayers and gentle hugs your way.

(((((deb))))  I loves yas gf.

I know it is really hard to let the messes go.  It drives me bonkers too.  What I have been doing lately is resting when I need to rest no matter how long that is and then slowly playing catch up with everything.  The girls and I manage to keep things neat and picked up and then save the other cleaning for when I feel up to it.  And I take frequent breaks.

Is there any possible way you and your husband can get away for one night?  What Danny and I sometimes do is just go and rent a hotel room.  We go somewhere with an indoor heated pool...go out to eat...hit the jacuzzi (well Danny does...I just dangle my feet in cuz of my high blood pressure lol)...and just relax.  If there is something around downtown we want to do or see we go do that.  We have even set up the tent in the backyard just for us and the girls either have stayed in the house or were gone for the night.

AWW Poor You Deb so sorry the appt wasn't very succesful. I know what it's like the leave a Dr's office more frustrated than when you went in.  Please try and not stress over the mess (I'm a poet), thats what everyone tells me when I'm flaring and you know it's not good for you. Like they say "it'll be there tomorrow" waiting on you. hope you feel better soon dear.

So sorry you have so much pain and then had to have your cat put down. My dear old cat needs to go too and I just haven't been able to do it. I know I'll cry for a week. Hope things get better for you soon.

Hi deb, life just seems like an uphill grind sometimes. I agree with you that's a lot of pain medication and you should be concerned about having to continue to take it. Your husband is right to tell it like it is, don't hold back on what's going on with this. Oh my gosh so sorry about your kitty, those furry little things are such comfort. I hope you made another appointment so you can update the doc. You will not want to let this go on and on. You deserve relief! Lynda
