Good info, john hopkins | Arthritis Information

I go here often and even ask questions.  THey anwer questions from people and post their answers.  There is some good info like when one patient said 5mg prednisone worked for them, should they go to mtx if their rhummy wanted them too.  John Hopkins rhummy said "if you are at 5 mg or less of prednsione, it is not worth the risk and hassle of adding methotrexate."

But there are tons of things to read, lots of info here.  I know this is one of the nation's best hospitals that know what they are doing so i thought i would post the link.

Well, Bubba, looks like you missed the brohhaha about John Hopkins for the APers.  Not only was the info wrong - it bordered on criminal IMHO.  Other people posted the 'ask the expert' was wrong on diet info and some of the other vitamins/supplement info I think.

Well respected or not - John Hopkins is purely traditional in it's approach to RA and AI.  No leading or cutting edge research as far as I can tell.

And how's that working for us so far?

Pip

Well said Pip!

When will this end, AP works! Enough said!

I also posted this on the Roadback site, but, I can squat! I am living in South Korea for three years where a lot of business is done squatting.  I can do it because of AP has kicked my RA into remission and also, I had to exercise those muscles which hadn't been used in a long time.

I can walk for miles and I can enjoy my life. When will the medical professionals listen. Are they on the payroll for these biological companies?  I just don't get it.

Becky

What works for one, may or may not work for another. Some people have very good success with biologics..I've had refractory RA for 8 years and I can squat too..Because I exercise and do range of motion stuff everyday. I also watch my diet and get plenty of vitamin D. I like the John's Hopkins site...It has been very helpful. Certainly everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Lynn

Lynn,

What you are doing is called 'reframing the arguement'.  This is not about the biologics - as I said in my post to Bubba, it is purely a 'traditional meds hospital'.  That translates to me that it they will showcase and endorse everything that is standard.  Also, as I said in my post to Bubba - John Hopkins is seriously remiss on AP as APer's actually on the program will attest.  Much of their 'alternative' info on diet, vitamins etc is wrong.

How does that translate into an attack on the biologics?

If Bubba went to www.roadback.org he will not get info on the biologics.  We're a completely different slant.

My post was in reply to his "they know what they are doing" comment.  For APer's, the answer is NO, THEY DO NOT.

Glad to hear you can do squats etc.  Becky's point was she was so far along in the road to a wheelchair that she is amazed at how far back she has come.  APers look to people like her for encouragement.

Lynn, I'm wondering; if biologics don't work for some people, would John
Hopkins be right or justified in stating that biologics don't work?

I can squat, but I can't get up again and it hurts like hell.By the way, I notice The Expert hasn't asnswered my question I sent him yet.
I'm waiitng, The Expert!I agree with Lynn.  Nothing is 100% for anybody, but I think it's marvelous for those with success no matter what they take. I don't think anyone thinks that there's something that is 100% for everyone. Hi Bubba, I use the John Hopkins site for info.  I take what I need from it, as we all should. Some of it doesn't pertain to me and I don't always agree with it 100% but then I don't agree with most of the sites 100% and some a lot less.  I hope that you continue searching ALL of the sites for information about chronic illnesses.  So far I haven't gotten information overload from my searches.  I think you'll find misleading information or what you may perceive as misleading information on many of the sites but don't let that stop you.  Like I said I visit all the sites for information.  Lindy
