actonel depression!!! | Arthritis Information

I have taken actonel for 3 mo and have noticed a pronounced depression. Do all these such as foxamax have similar depression side-effects?? Thanks Joanne RAHi, Oh NO!, yet another problem with these bone protecting meds! I couldn't take actonel, because it caused joint pain (I thought my RA meds weren't working and asked the doc to increase the amount of them!), so switched to Boniva and now that does the same thing to me and I refuse to take it. I've forgotten what happened with fosomax??Does anyone have info? LyndaLynda - I am just getting a handle on these bone meds - there seem to be classes of them now, newer versions coming on line.  I have no idea about the depression, sorry jjarmani - good luck.

I looked up the side effects on RXlist.com and it said the depression was a side effect.  I'd give a call to your doc about it and let them know that it is happening.  I don't think that's an acceptable side effect - in my humble opinion.

I took Fosamax for a short time and my teeth started breaking out of my head. Yikes!  Didn't like that one - so discontinued.

I'm sorry that the Actonel is affecting you negatively.  I would definitely give the doc a call and find out about options and what might help.  You definitely deserve better than that.

Let us know how you are doing.

Hugs,

Jen
