AP'ers.... I just got a call from the mailorder pharmacy for my 3 month supply of Minocin. Minocin will cost me 2.00 and the generic will cost me .00. The script says to dispense as written..can't reach my doc!!! I told them to fill it as written.
What do you think???
I think ARGH! I can't really give any advice, as Minocin only costs more than generic for me, so I have always been on name brand. I do know not all generics are created equally, so I think who makes the generic is a relevant detail. Some people do well on generic and others tank (whereas when they switch to name brand they do well again). Also, if you have gastro-intestinal issues, the slow release pellet action of the name brand is supposed to be helpful.Damn, GoGo!

Yep, she got it all! I've read a ton of posts on generic v brand but chose Brand because the absorbtion and the fact it's easier on the stomach (I have GERD). GOOD LUCK! Happy for you!

I started AP a month ago, and am taking generic Minocycline. Having never taken brand Minocin, I can't really tell you if one works better than the other. But what I CAN tell you is that the generic is obviously doing something, as I've been herxing like no tomorrow.
I see my RD on Friday, and I'm going to ask him for brand Minocin though, as I do have a hiatal hernia and GERD and have been having a lot of stomach issues the past few weeks. I checked my prescription insurance coverage, and it will cost me for a 3 month supply. Not bad!
