Not sure what this is... | Arthritis Information

Ok... so we were out and about Monday and we ate dinner at Wendy's. Son was sitting next to me and we were playing around. I told son, to punch me in me upper arm, because he was trying to punch me in the face... he was playing around... copying what his daddy and sissy was doing on the otherside of the table.

So, he just pushes in fist into my upper arm, and it HURT like he actually slugged me! It indented where his little knuckle went into my arm and was sore and is still sore and you can still feel where his little knuckle went into my arm. No bruise, surprising, as I usually bruise. But the muscle hurts when I move that arm.

Is there some kind of AI disorder that this could belong to? I notice that my muscles are very senstive. If I just bump up against something, that area will be sore for days.

Sheesh, I would have said that was just pred swelling, but you've dropped so low that wouldn't make sense. O.o

If you're noticing this a lot, I would really suggest calling the doc, at the very least. It sounds icky!! :(

*hugs* GENTLY, though.....
Yeah, check it out.

All my muscles are always sore. If I am touched...like a pat on the shoulder, it hurts or my daughter climbing on my lap hurts.

The soreness could be just inflammation but the indenting...hmmm...I don't know.

have you been checked for fibro

I was going to offer fibro as an option, too. Has your rheumy ever checked for that, or said you have it? Feel better,

Hugs,

Nini

No, my RD never said anything about fibro. Maybe the new RD will be able to help shed some light.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced something like that. Here I go being the freak again

Gosh Joonie that sure sounds like Fibro as far as the soreness goes but I've never seen anything like your describing with the indention thing. Were you swollen at the time with RA and just didn't realize it? Thats the only thing I can think of but I sure am sorry you hurt so bad.

I would think the indentation might be a sign of inflammation or fluid retention. Just a guess. The pain makes me think fibro. I'd give your doctor a call. Feel better soon.

Ok... I do not think I explained the indentation good. You cannot see the indent, but if I rub it where it is sore, I can feel like an indentin my muscle. I rubbed my other arm in the same spot and I do not feel any type of indent. I do not know... it might just be all in my head. I mean I did get beat up by a 2 year old

I have not taken my muscle relaxers in a couple of days. They really mess with my head and make me feel weird. I skip days and forget more stuff... or is that just RA Brain?

Second most common is rheumatoid arthritis, which affects 2.5 million Americans. It can strike at any age, but usually appears between ages 20 and 50. The hands are most commonly affected, but it can affect most joints of the body. Inflammation begins in the synovial lining and can spread to the entire joint. Highly variable and difficult to control, the disease can severely deform joints. Some people become bedridden. Others continue to run marathons.

An autoimmune disease affecting the whole body, rheumatoid arthritis can also cause weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle pain, and weight loss. Blood tests may reveal anemia and the presence of an antibody called rheumatoid factor (RF). However, some people with RF never develop rheumatoid arthritis, and some people with the disease never have RF. In about one in six, the disease becomes severe and can shorten life. Researchers hope to find ways to predict which patients should be treated more aggressively
