Research on prednisone | Arthritis Information

 

Hi all!

Some months ago a doctor from one of the main hospitals in Sweden called me, because they are going to do research about how prednisone affects proteins in the body when you have PMR (I hope I got it right). He mentioned that they want persons who are on at least 5 mg per day. I was then on 5 mg a day. He called me again this week and I told him that I had tapered from 5 mg to 3.75 now (half of 5 mg and half of 2.5 mg tablets) and then I am of no interest for the study.

Many persons on this board tell that the doctors donīt know very much about PMR and nobody knows "all the picture" with PMR. I was therefore glad when I heard that this study is going to start. If I hear anything about the results, I will let you know.

Very intgeresting!!! Glad to hear that someone somewhere is doing some research on PMR. Hopefully there will be more studies done, so the many people who are plagued by this disease can get better results than they have been getting so far. Thanks for sharing.

Ditto Ragnar! Thank you for sharing and keep us updatedI think PMR is where fibro was 20 years ago.  It may be  a long time before there's any real progress, but a least some groups are paying attention.  We're all so grateful to them.
