How long is a cough just cough before it becomes something to worry about. I have had this cough for almost 4 weeks now, it wakes me every night choking me. I aso cough when i eat and also when i am walking. I dont feel breathless but my back aches when i breath( maybe from the strain). I have seen the doc, had 2 lots of antibiotics when the cough was infectious, had cough suppressants and now I am just plain worn out from it. Its just a worry cause of being on the humira and this all started after my last injection. I was using a homemade recipe which seemed to help but its not anymore, the cough is getting worse again.Maybe you should go back to the doc? I don't think a cough is something you should mess around with under the circumstances. I agree with Linn. You need to go back to the doc Lisa. A cough can be a myraid of things. The antibiotics you have been on might not have been the right ones for this cough you have. Are you coughing anything up at all? I was, but after the anti biotics it has become just a choking cough.Although I do seem to be choking on salavia, There seems to be a build up of it in my mouth.Which is strange as i used to suffer from a dry mouth. Doctor, Lisa. Something is obviously not right.
Lisa, are you taking methotrexate? I took it orally when first diagnosed, the switched to injections. They finally stopped it when I continued to have a dry cough that went on and on. My rheumy says I'm allergic to it.
But regardless, You should see the doctor again!! Have they done a chest x-ray since this has been going on?

I've had to take three rounds of antibiotics as well of a mega round of Predisone to get rid of mine before. It can drag on and on and like Lynda mentioned it can turn into pneumonia pretty easily although I doubt that's the case for you. You have started to feel some better haven't you? It's likely you are really sore from all the coughing and that's what's causing the pain.
Better safe than sorry.....get it checked.
