I’ m Having a Grizzle | Arthritis Information

Well, here I go!!  I know that this is just a really a minor complaint, but I am getting sooo sick of this dry mouth stuff. Not sore at all, no white spots etc.

At my last Rh. visit in April, I mentioned that I had been having a dry mouth since I had a tooth surgically removed in February (root canal abcess).  He did ask about my eyes (for Sjogrens I guessed - although he never said), but they're fine.  And I seem to have plenty of saliva.  My mouth is not sore.

I told him that I chew sugarfree gum - and said that was good.  OK.

Over the next few months, it got worse,  dryer, etc., so a week or so ago, I went to see my GP.

Although there were no other obvious signs, he took a mouth swab and thought it could be an Oral Thrush Infection.  The swab result came back the next day -  positive, and he faxed a prescription through to my pharmacist for Nystatin Lozenges.  Turned out those had been discontinued so the pharmacist gave me Nystatin Drops instead.

After a week on this sickly sweet concoction - no difference, so on Friday the prescription was changed to Fungalin Lozenges.  They're OK - taste quite pleasant, but still not seeing any change.  I have one lozenge 4 times a day.

I know I have to give it probably at least another week, but I am actually just sick of this peculiar taste in my mouth, and the fact that my everything I eat, tastes almost the same.  Bletch!!

I fancied some bacon last night, and the first few mouthfuls were great, but then everything just tasted blught!!  Not horrible, just nothing.

I'm continually making eating motions with my mouth too, and must look like old man Steptoe chewing on cud Well, that IS frustrating. You can try using these little yoghurt shooters with
super probiotic concentration. They're called "Bio-K", and you get them from
the fridge at the health food store or naturo-pharmacy. Have a half to one a
day. Unfortunatly they are expensive but I know over time they will really
help thrush.

You might want to look at the possibility you have a systemic candida
infection. A good book to read is "The Yeast Connection" by William Crook.

http://www.biokplus.com/Thanks Gimpy, I've been thinking about those probiotics, and will have a scout around my local health-food places.  I think a friend of mine has that book, it sounds very familiar.
