I rode a bike!!!!! | Arthritis Information

I haven't ridden a bike for a while, or much of any other fun stuff I used to do.  I do water exercise, but I love to ride bikes.

This weekend we were at lake Cour D'alene in Idaho at my in-laws.  A few years ago the old railroad tracks around the lake were taken up and a bike path was laid down.  It is smooth, level and has a great view.  We rented recumbent TRICYCLE.  I have used recumbents before because I had carpal and cubital tunnel problems before RA.  There were the BEST.  No pressure on my hands or wrist or knees.  I did have some problems with my hips, but I think it was because the seat was too big.

I put a link to what they look like.  Of course, I paid for it the next day, I could barely move.  But, that is because if was a beautiful day, the lake was gorgeous and how often could I do this.  It was worth it.

Sounds like an awesome time! Kudos Mary!!

Oh how AWESOME! My mom and dad, aunt and uncle bike quite a lot up in WI. On the same things, old RR tracks that are paths now. Where are you from?  I'm jealous, there aren't really places to do that down here in FL. Boo! Hi Katie,

We live in Eastern WA, right next to the Columbia River (which also has excellent bike paths right on the river).  This was in Idaho along the lake.  I love those paths because kids, older people and handicapped can ride them.  Several people who passed me said, wow that looks easy and it was.  If my recliner had wheels, it would be that bike!

The only other thing that would have made it better would be a tow bar in case I started to feel real bad and then my husband could have towed me Hi, I think that is so cool. I've been to Cour d'alene. It is a beautiful lake and surrounding areas. My husband and I were on our Yamaha motorcycles. It was great fun. Thanks for reminding me. LyndaMary, what fun.  I looked at the website and I believe that's a bike I could handle.  I never had good balance before RA and it's even worse now.  Am glad you had a wonderful time.  LindyLindy,

I did try the regular recumbent since I had ridden them before RA, but balance is shot too.  No balance problem at on the "trike"
Mary these trikes are the coolest . Don't seem to take much balance either since I'm such a clutz lately
