Recognizing Astro Turf | Arthritis Information

 

Basically, it comes down to this.  If a web site has no search feature, no 'contact us', no history about the organization that is verifiable with outside sources and uses mostly edited, un-verified obscure 'factoids' - it's ASTRO TURF.

How many of the above criteria apply in this post from Anna/BeeBee that Alan kindly provided the link for?

Below you will find some very interesting articles about Astroturfing and some have some interesting comments to say about AF.  Thanks, Anna, I didn't know of this.

Did anybody realize prior to seeing these links, that this was going on?  If not - how do you feel now?  If you knew, were you prepared for the scope of this?

I'm not ignoring this thread Pip! Just need some time to check out the links.  Gee, Pip! I'm in the same place as Brisen---so far I've only read half of these
articles (you must be a speed reader!). It is reaslly disturbing and I thank you
for raising awareness about this. This sort of thing has been going on since
the dawn of politics, but it's particularly disturbing when pharmaceutical
corporations are doing it (these are OUR BODIES and people shouldn't try to
fool around with them for profit)!

Anyway, it's good to be able to recognise the signs....plus now I know what
"astroturf" actually means.Of course the same is true of vendors of supplements, diets and natural immune enhancements. It all boils down to the old "let the buyer beware". You have to spend the time to do the research yourself and willingly accept the known risks in any treatment course.
