mtx and hair color | Arthritis Information

Does anyone know if mtx or any of the other lovely meds we take will affect how hair dye takes on our hair?  My stupid gray hair is really getting me down, and wouldn't you know it's the non-gray hair that seems to be falling out.  I love to color the remaining hair, but I worry it will go wrong due to the meds, and I'll end up with some kind of odd color.

Thanks!  Cheryl

Hi Cheryl

I'm on MTX and have been colouring my hair every 6-8 weeks with no problems

Kelly

Yay!!!!  Bye bye gray!

Cheryl

I've been on MTX for more than three years and have never had a problem.

I've been coloring my hair since I took cosmetology in High School.

I'm blonde...but I like BLONDER!!

Go for it!! It will make you feel good. It always makes you feel better to look good.

Good Luck!!

I'm red, but now I'll be redder!!!!!

Cheryl

So you did it? It turned out good?

There shouldn't be any problems coloring your hair.

Unless you have that to die for gray hair, then...Color away my friend.  Enjoy the new YOU...

Have a great day Cheryl...

Toni

i hoped there was no problem... i just colored my hair on monday!!! like you lovie,.. im blonde, but i want to go back to work with that "out in the sun all summer" blonde look!!!!! hee hee

So far mine is shiny and golden!!!!!!!!!!!!

later!

I GET MY HAIR COLORED EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS; EVEN WHEN I WAS ON MTX.  I ASKED MY HAIRDRESSER AND SHE SAYS SOMETIMES BLEACH CAN EFFECT YOUR HAIR ON CERTAIN MEDS.  I'M A GREY UNDERNEATH/BRUNETTE.  IF YOU ARE GOING SUPER BLOND I MIGHT CHECK WITH MY RHEUMY TO BE SAFE!!  I PERSONALLY THINK I AM TOTALLY WHITE UNDER ALL THIS COLOR PROBABLY AND I'VE EARNED EVERY GREY HAIR BUT I DON'T WANT TO LOOK OLD BEFORE ME TIME.......

Cheryl

Cheryl...

LOL with you

I was thinking about the same thing...Coloring my hair Platinum...

I am ready for a new me...
Glad it turned out okay,I'm on 15mg MTX,and color hair ,I'm little bit more careful abiut how long I leave it on,due to I'm losing hair being on MTX.Sherry

Seems like a good place to confess... I'm joining you ladies and getting my bit of grey colored over next weekend and then getting it tipped. So what if I’m not 20. It looks pretty cool, even for a geezer my age, and my friends and co-workers loved it last year.

Sometimes treating yourself to something other that medicine can make you feel better. Maybe I'll start a soul patch too... (Ok, that's that bit of hair under the bottom lip, a.k.a. a "flavor savor", FYI).

Mike
