AUTOIMMUNE DIET | Arthritis Information

WOW!  Has anyone tried the Autoimmune Diet?  I've just read about it, and I'm going for it!

I've had a big flare after eating these foods. My doctor doesn't believe it is the cause, he just ups my methotrexate, etc. and treats me for the flare, but you know what one summer I found 'roadside' veggie stands everywhere I drove.  I love salads, so I STOPPED and took home armfuls of tomatoes, bellpeppers, ate them and the next day I was in terrible shape. I just can't 'try' to eat them anymore. Lynda

You know what?  I don't think we're on the same page here

is this the diet you're talking about?sounds interesting.

Yes, I know about that, and I know I have to deal with that but I haven't yet.
Pip knows quite a bit about that, and she's very scientific!

Lulu,

The autoimmune diet....hmmm. Is that the Eat Right for Your Blood Type (authored by Dr. D'Amano (or D'amo......) anyway, my sister swears by this diet and so does my neighbor.  I looked up what foods bother my blood type and it is so restrictive...no cow's milk, beef, bacon, ham, cheddar and american cheese, hamburger....hot dogs...

I am flaring right now...fever of 99.8, achy and stiff joints, and am 6 days away from Remicade.  Would I want to eat "rabbit food" to feel better?  I don't think so.  I am not a vegan nor do I choose to be.  I eat moderate portions of a variety of healthy foods so I don't think I'll be signing up for this or any other kind of diet.

NO,NO,NO!  It's none of those mentioned in the posts.  Try this:

http://www.biblelife.org/autoimmune.htm

The article starts out with the words (in giant print) PERFECT DIET, PERFECT NUTRITION--RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, LUPUS, ASTHMA...

LET ME KNOW IF Y'ALL FIND IT, OKAY?

LULU39295.5136689815I saw that page before, I think someone else put the link in.  Anyway, when I looked at the "absolutly forbidden" foods I stopped reading.  Never eat tomatoes or blueberries or strawberries or any other kind of fruit?  Not for me.  Hope it works well for you though.  [QUOTE=LULU]

Tomatoes are okay on this diet. Hi Lulu - dont have time at the moment to read through all of your link but you are not on your own here unless it is the Atkins diet which I def. do not believe in.
I am vegetarian and as I have mentioned many times before was told by a research dr/nuclear biologist/geneticist to keep off dairy & animal products, get lots of vit. D pref from the sun and take 1T lecithin daily.   It has helped me heaps - I still have occasional flares and problems with fatigue but I lapse from the diet more often than I should and have been under a lot of stress for a long time.
I am all for giving it a try & lots of luck. I believe absolutely that if you stick to a vegan diet as mentioned above it will help RA dramatically. There has been a lot of research confirming this.   Try lowfatvegan.com and bryannaclarkgrogan.com for some excellent recipes.

It could be the Prednisone, jj54; however, it was such a dramatic difference from one day to the next, I wonder.

I was happily amazed at the improvement in my fingers this morning when I woke up.  Joy!
