Eye appt. and ultrasound | Arthritis Information

Well, I did have the eye ultrasound and the needle pressure point, and the field of vision test and dialation.  I am going to try to type this without any mistakes, but I have contacts in that are not my true Rx and my eyes are still HUGE.  My son says I do not look good STONED! LOL

The ultrasound was done after my eyes were numbed.  It was a small pen looking device that had a point on it like a gel pen.  It was great and it measured the thickness of my cornea.  It is plenty thick.  The needle pressure was a little tougher, my eyes were not numbed enough and I could feel it.  He noticed this and got a stronger numbing solution and was fine.  My pressures are right in the middle.  My field of vision was a base line and there is some patterns, but not enough to suggest true glaucoma.  So we will keep an eye on that every three months.

The big kicker was when my eyes were dialated and they found out a reason for my night blindness and such.  I have cateracts too.  Gosh I love all of this!!

So this is what an ultrasound is like.  It was pretty benign

Great news Michelle!!! I'm so glad this is over for you

Lynda, Yes!!!  I am too young for cateract!  I guess the kind I have are the kind that diabetics get.  In the spring my blood sugar tests were off, and I am going to have a fasting one in the next year.  The eye doctor thinks that I do have a pre-diabetic or early diabetic thing going on.

Poor him I just started to cry, and said...."What else could I possibly be diagnosed with."  He said, "I bet you will start controlling the diabetes from diet and you are already looking at that."  I guess they don't get that when you go to the doctor and find more and more wrong it gets to be a "What Now."

My eyes were totally numb and still are.  The needle was to check the exact pressure of my eyes, because of the glacoma.  The ultrasound was to see how thick the corneas are.  I guess in glacoma the thicker your corneas the slower it should progress.  So, that is why all of those tests were done.  He dialated my eyes on a fluke, because I am losing my night vision and he had a suspician that something like this was going on.

The good news is he is very proactive and his suspicians about my eyes have usually been right on.  I wish I could find a GP and RD that were as astute as he is.
