I don't have the brain power today to be doing this....

I don't know if anyone remembers, but a while back I had a MASSIVE bruise on my hip bone, with a lump below it. I never did go to the doc, and it did go away on it's own. I have another one. This one is small, and it's growing! It's on the opposite side now.

IT CORRELATES WITH SOMETHING!!!!!

Right before my period this time, along with all the nasty weather we've been getting, my hips felt like they were going to pop out of joint. And my sides hurt like someone was punching me, RIGHT by my hip bones.

As soon as we got back from our trip to Tampa - which was HELL on my wrists and elbows, you know holding the steering wheel for 10 hours and such - my elbows developed bruises!!!!! They're HUGE and they have lumps under them....

There has to be a reason for this. What is it????

Alright. I googled. I didn't find anything.

Am I alone? Anyone else bruise like that???? I still hurt.....grrr

No, can't say I have experienced it or even heard of it and my head is a bit of an RA encyclopedia.

I do think you should go to the doctor and get it checked, sweetie.

And I hope someone has had similar and pops up to tell you what it is.
Hang on, isn't there some correlation between bruising and long term Pred use? Maybe that is what you are thinking of.  Possibly but I'm not on pred. I'm not on anything. :(

Katie,

When I googled Arthritis and Bruising, the first match was an archived post from this website.  It seems there were people experiencing this bruising and from what I read, they were both (what's the word?) lowering their dose of pred.

Katie,

Here's some other information from MedicineNet.com.  "Cortisone medications, such as prednisone, promote bruising by increasing the fragility of the tiny blood vessels in the skin. "

Katie, have you gone back to search for the post that you made when it happened before?

I'm not medicated. At all! :(Hi Katie, get to the doctor.  Bruising is a significant symptom for some other diseases.  Some serious some not.  Your doctor needs to rule out these diseases.  Please call and make an appt.  Keep us posted. I'll be thinking about  you and pestering you

I can probably make an appt with my PCP at any time.

Katie, I'd go see my primary, especially if you can get an appt. sooner.  It might be something as simple as anemia and able to be fixed quickly.  Keep us posted.  Lindy

Thanks muchly! :) I'll call tomorrow AM.

It REALLY hurts! >.< It's as bad/worse than the joint pain thats going along with it.

You know, I tried too in coming up with something but no luck.

GO see a doc, OK.

Pip

Katie, I completely agree with Lindy! In fact, she posted what I was thinking.

Call your PCP as soon as you can. Please let us know what happens.

Hugs,

Nini

If you're not on Pred then what is going on?

Definitely call your PCP and get it seen too. Being in so much pain with it too...doctor, woman.

I feel the same way LinB does, would keep pestering you but can see we don't have too.

Let us know what happens.

Could be nodule. Maybe your hips have inflamation and causing nodules.I get lumps near my hips when my period is due, it irritates the RA more and my inflamation levels are lots worse at that time of the month.

Go see your doc though Katie as it could be a number of things CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT VITAMIN C DEFICIENCY IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
