Just let you know i have Rheumatoid arthritis i live in Australia arhritis has made life hard until now. I expect most arthritis suffers have tried all the other treaments like embral or humira the list is long.I have just started a new treament called Mabthera it works by depleating your B cells in your blood. The drug is given by a infusion over a 4 week process one day two weeks apart in hospital. It has taken a long time for me to get this drug but my arthritis is starting to reduce the swelling is gone and the result is remarkable The first pain free day in 5 years
cheers gigabyte re stuart Thanks for the reply i will keep you all posted on how well it works did you know that mabthera is on the pbs in australia as of august 2007 regards gigabyte (stuart) Welcome to the board!! So glad that you have a pain-free day today
~Shannon~ I heard the news yesterday. What a great thing for us arthritis sufferers. Its about time the PBS got in the act. The govt can take its time sometimes getting these drugs on to the PBS but it is so great when they finally do. I'm not that far along with treatment yet (still only on MTX and plaquenil) but I'm glad that it will be covered when I get to the stage that I need bigger guns than I'm on. Welcome to the board from another aussie.
I live in Australia too. So does alleycat if you see her around.
So you're are on the real big gun, hey. Congrats on a pain free day.
I am failing Humira currently very well
Did you have to spend the whole four weeks in hospital? Is that how it works?
I live in Queensland, in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.
And yes, do keep us all posted on how it goes.
