Ok a question to all do you find that when your have a few drinks your arthritis gets worse .I found that the type of the drink i had used to effect the level of pain i endured the next day. Beer was by far the worst for what it did to me

I dont drink at all any more because of this and yet i have no evidence to back this up is it the acid or sugar or something else in the Alcohol that causes so much pain.Intrested to know if anyone else has a view on this

RA: Mabthera/rituximab X 2 infusionsI've never had that problem.  Other ones, but not that one.Yes...that always happens to me when I have a couple of drinks.   I don't drink beer though..usually wine.Have you ever looked into celiac disease or candida? Maybe it's the gluten or
yeast in the beer you're reacting to.Beer and other alcoholic drinks aggrevate problem.  In history, Asian traditionally steeped herbs in rice wine to help arthritis and other health problem. I drink herbal wine, to promote health and help arthritis. If not appropriate herbal wine, one expects a flare!!Yeah I don't drink anymore. If it doesn't make me feel bad right away, I end up doing stupid things that I *think* I can do, and then I pay for it the next day. Hah. I'm 23 and I only ever got one good year of drinking in.

Oh well!
What are herbal wines?  I've never heard of them.

I don't drink much any more, a beer or margarita here and there.  I seem to have more problems with my medications as I only handle only 1 drink or so.  I like to be in control as being on meds makes me feel that I will start to studder or sometimes, it is just so easy to lose track of my thoughts.  It sure feels like the fatigue has something to do with it all.  I really don't miss alcohol and I have learned that an ice cold drink of water will satisfy me more and keep me feeling in control.  Maybe...just maybe, after losing control of my physical side, I need to be in control of my mouth...

Herbal wine.....hmmmm.....never heard of that either.

My rheumy was adament about NO ALCOHOL while on MTX? I was never a big drinker but enjoyed a glass of wine or a cold Sam Adams.. While I miss it from time to time things could be worse. I am sure it sucks worse for some of the younger group.

Yes NO ALCOHOL ON MTX! Well. I think the debate on here before has said something like you can have one glass of wine or something...

but the REASON for the no alc. with mtx is because mtx is sooo hard on your liver already. And so is alchy. So no no! Just to be safe. lol
My hangovers always resulted in more joint pain while I was still drinking (have stopped now just for health reasons. I was bad and was drinking whilst on MTX. Hard not to when you're a student, but silly, I know)

But strangely enough, when the hangover abated, so did the joint pain.

Inflamation.  Alcohol causes inflamation.

Just a tiny bit of extra inflamation in a body can ruin a day. Personally, I am a jack and coke girlI must say I haven't had any problems with alcohol. My husband and I are sort of wine collectors, tasters etc. We love going out to wine tastings, food pairings and all that. My dr said it was ok but to keep it "in check". To me it's a quality of life thing: I enjoy the taste, learning about them and for me to have it be off limits would be the same to some as if they were told "No more sugar or No more salt forever". Everyone has a vice....but thankfully, it doesn't affect my RA.
