I get mine at the dr office too. Usually tuesday mornings. The nurse that in charge of the infusions really knows her stuff and she's like a drill seargent!
Sorry to hear you get bad side effects, I hope that never happens to me!
I get mine in my RD's office. Our infusion nurse is there every day. Its a really nice place. a big sunny room, 4 recliners, nice artwork on the walls, a 25 inch tv, a bookshelf full of books and magazines, and a HUGE basket of snacks.. crackers, candy, cookies.. they offer us tea, coffeee, juice or water..
I feel much better the day after an infusion sooo I dont care what day I take it.
I dont think in my case its even possible to have it done in the hospital.. but I am very rural.
It seems I get most of my infusions on mondays.. We all love Joanie, our nurse, shes really sweet very funny and boy she knows her stuff. she hits the vein every time, never hurts you..
I know I'm always bragging on my RD and the office, but I have to say it is the nicest, friendliest dr's office Ive ever been to.. People are always laughing and joking, its like Dr Vandewall knows how important it it is to have a positive outlook, and he makes sure he has really upbeat people working there.
I get them at my rheumatologist office. They do them 2-3 days a week. However I did receive orencia at the hospital.
Take a look at your insurance also. I know that in the dr's office all I pay is the .00 office visit charge. In a hospital setting I pay 20% and as you know 20% of a remicade charge equals a whole lot of money
I get mine at the nearest hospital, 35 miles away, the closest RD is 180 miles. It's at the oncology dept., which is kind of depressing because everyone else is there for cancer and I don't visit with anyone. But we each have a comfortable chair and our own tv and cable, which I don't have at home. I get it done at 8am, am done before noon, fit in my once a month grocery shopping and go home. I like the nurses and they leave me alone to laugh at the comedy channel. When I was on it I got it at my RD's office, I could have it done whenever I wanted. Same w/my Rituxan, RD's office.
Paid only the office visit copay.
I get my infusions at the arthritis center, essentially my RD's office. Have gotten infusions at the hospitals when we were traveling. When I went to the dermatologist about a lesion on my face he tried to recruit me to get Remicade infusions in his office!!!!!! He set up an infusion center because Remicade is used for psoriatic arthritis. I declined and told him that I was perfectly happy at the arthritis center. There's a lot of crossover treatment going on with the specialties. Lindyat rheumatologist's office....they schedule me in advance and I take whole day off work because I am usually tired afterwards.
