OT - Reasons why..... | Arthritis Information

.....you stay at work until after midnight, even though your shift ended at 11..........

Reason number one: People are inherently assholes.

Reason number two: Your boss apparently has the utmost faith in your abilities; so much so he trusts you to sign paper work for the local county sheriff.

Reason number three: You're a sucker. Just a plain, regular, SUCKER. And it's stamped on your forehead.

So at about 10:45 - yes, that's right there's fifteen minutes left of my brutally long night and the sh*t hits the fan. Doesn't it always go that way? The only people in the hotel (working) are Christine and I, my bellman Cesear, and our maintenance guy Patryk. Christine and I hear what *we* assume to be a basketball being bounced down the hallway of the 4th floor. This sound is followed by yelling, which starts out....eeeehhhh like a rowdy couple of kids. It quickly escalates into ENRAGED yells, blood curling screams etc etc. Cesear and Patryk RACE to the 4th floor, and I run out into the atrium half expecting to see someone get thrown over the balcony.

At this point in working at this hotel, NOTHING is friggin impossible.

The people involved in the altercation are with a family reunion, and so out come all the family members, on cell phones, yelling at each other down the hall, running up the stairs, and swarming the elevator.

I go back to the desk to help Christine answer the flood of phone calls about "who's killing who" out in the hallway. I assume (poorly) that the family would be able to subdue their loser family member and get him to calm the hell down.

Then Patryk and Cesear appear off the elevator, and inform me that there is a massive hole in the wall by the elevators, and that a persons BODY made it. Great.

So I start making phone calls.........long version shortened, the General Manager is called, and so are the cops......the story that we gather is something like this:

A 17 year old is here with the fam. and has his g/f with him. They get into a fight - the reason for it NO ONE, not even their mothers, have any idea - he FLIPS out and smashes several holes in his bedroom wall, throws an iron at someone, breaks a lamp, and then takes his little act into the hallway. That's of course where the hole in the elevator wall occurred.

At this point the cops say we have 2 choices, eviction/they pay for all damages or he goes to jail. I have a nice boss, he says evict them and charge them 0 for damages.

I'm thinkin 600 probably isn't going to cover it all once we actually get an estimate, but ya know, it's not my call.

OH - did I mention that even by this time no one has FOUND the kid who did all of this? Just the people he was screaming at. The mother of the kid is SO embarrassed and really wants her son found and taken away. Can't say I blame her. We tried to assure her that no one was upset with her, these things happen and at 17, no one was holding her responsible for his actions. She was most upset though. Poor woman. :(

Eventually the kid comes downstairs, he'd been hiding out in a fam.'s room. The cops talk to him and he's amazingly calm, he even admits to everything he did. They take him away to another hotel, and I charge the poor mother 0.

*sigh* And then I get to clock out around 12:15 and go home.

OH MY GOD I DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH FOR THIS CRAP.

WHAT ARE WE MOTEL FREAKING SIX?!?!?

Katie,

Sounds like one HELL of a night!  You still didn't tell us how you feel today!

I know its Sun. so I will say sorry to those I may have offended now.

I'm exhausted.............to say the least!

Damn I missed the party

Sorry you had such a bad night. Demand to be paid Overtime

Yes, I get time and a half. Woot! But still. I'm soooooo tired today. LOL Left work after midnight, didn't get home till 1am, and had to be bad here at noon.

GOODIE!

Sometimes the pain and discomfort isnt worth the extra money. Put your foot down and tell them off. You need the bottle saying "DRINK ME" and shrink so small so they cant see you

This kinda stuff REALLY doesn't happen that often. It just FEELS like it. Haha Our maintenance manager is currently patching the wall by the elevator. Poor guy. It's HUGE....hahaha

Boy, Katie, it sounds like a three-ring circus! Do people really get that out-of-control very often? It sounds more like a spring break event.

You just be careful...you never know when some loony-tune is going to completely lose it. Has anyone found out yet why the kid got so crazy? A fight with your girlfriend is one thing, but holes in the hotel walls are something else. I wonder how the girlfriend came out through all this.

Take care, little one. Hope you got some rest before going back in

Hugs,

Nini

The g/f was bawling her little eyes out. The mother made a comment about him having anger issues, and needing to be put in a home.

I still have no idea what it was about. And no, this crap DOESN'T happen that often. In fact, in 3 years this is only my second eviction, and the first one didn't even involve the cops.

That sounds so much more interesting than the mattress shopping we did...

The last time we evicted someone she was just REALLY REALLY REALLY drunk and her boyfriend kicked her out. Well since her name isn't on the room, she wasn't allowed to have a key or stay. She was rediculous. Haha She kept calling this one girl working at the front desk "fat and ugly" She kept saying "Why are you so fat?? Don't look at me you fatty. You have an ugly face!"

LMAO Needless to say she HAD to go.
