We keep trying different meds ( that I can afford, insurance won't pay) trying to make me better. I started taking Plaquenil and had a bad headache for a week. Stopped it for 2 weeks and tried it again. Started on Sat. and on Tuesday I woke with a itching rash from head to toe! Anyone else have these problems. Still have rash today but it's better after my DR. gave me a shot on Friday. He said it was a reaction to med. but I wonder why I didn't get the rash the first time?
You can get an allergic reaction to anything at any time, even after years of use. I did that with pinicillin, took it for years for various infections then Bam, one day I took it and was covered from head to toe welts. My Dr. said to never take it again and I haven't. Hope they can change you to something else that will work.
Yes, allergies can happen anytime anywhere. Your best bet is to see a derm and make sure it is an allergy hive and not Psoriasis. Then you need to go to a ENT, and get some allergy testing.
I had a bad reaction to Plaq too. My RA dr. insisted I try it. I could not sleep, if I did I had horrible nightmares of death and destruction, headaches behind my eyes and nausea. I was depressed and on the verge of crying. Other than that it was fine. I also developed a rash and it has not gone away on the back of my heels. That and the possibility of eye problems from it--I stopped taking it. I haven't been back to see him--my appointment is in September. Can't wait to see what lame idea he comes up with next! I think it is one of the worst drugs I have taken.
